Hell no

Same D playafter play

Parsons will NOT be utilized correctly or imaginatively

NO TO ZIMMER

I agree. Fans forget how much they wanted him gone before. Lol! I’d rather have Flores or Fangio if it’s not Whitt. Hell, I’d rather have Flores as my HC! Lol!

Yeah I'm pretty sure it'll be Zimmer and Mike McCarthy will have a 3" leash

Oh yay. Another old, re-tread coach who is still calling the same defenses he did in the 90s and can't keep up with today's game.

This front office will never learn that the game has passed by those old coaches. It's a young man's game now. Go look at the coaches remaining in the playoffs. Aside from Arians, it's all young coaches. Young offensive coaches who can keep up with today's game.

The 2 coaches left who are not young are Reid and Arians, both of which have 2 of the best QBs in the game.

He’s not going to be the head coach he’s a coordinator.....chiefs d coordinator; Steve spagnuolo. Age 62. Bills ; Leslie Frazier age 61. Packers ; joe berry 51 ( same age as Quinn) bengals ; Lou Anarumo 55 bucs : Todd Bowles 58

there are several coordinators in the 50-65 left in the playoffs. What you are saying isn’t accurate.

I like Mike Zimmer, he is a very good coach. But I'm really tired of retreads.

This would be up there with the Monte Kiffen hire. Not quite as washed up, but not exactly cutting edge either.

Zimmer brings one thing that would be an advantage, actually two, maybe three?

One, he has been HC of a team with a mid level QB and dependent on the run game and defense and that supports the team concept. That is this team.

Two, he is a no nonsense coach, which is why Parcells wanted to keep him. He is not as concerned with being liked as he is respected and his directions taken. This team has a players' owner, they do not need players' coaches. He did have a problem getting along with his OC's in MIN and that can be read two different ways. he is old school, doesn't like the pass game as the lead. Then again, he's never coached a team with an elite QB running an elite passing offense.

Three, he knows the terrain and just who the Joneses are.

That said, I don't know if he's what this team needs. But he is well respected around the league, except for his tendency for assistant coaches turnover.

+1

If you can have zimmer and edwards still here it really wouldn’t be the worst but again I’d prefer Quinn

The front office did hire Quinn and that couldn't have turned out better.

Anthony Barr, who has a similar skill set, just not as good and his 4 pro-bowls says otherwise

He's never put up the sack numbers that Parsons has, but is used in a similar manner

Agree. No more Jerry cronies. The LAST thing this organization needs.
Eh, just 2 days people were saying this team needed a strict disciplinarian to coach the team. Couple days before that there was an article that had interviewed some of the players and the consensus was that his disciplinary ways had run it’s coarse with the players in Minnesota. Personally I think he’s close too being aged out and would much prefer Edwards but he’ll if people are going to express a belief they should stick to it.

Can you though? Do they still have a good relationship?

I really can’t speak to the relationship tbh. I’d assume if him and zimmer were close you could make zimmer d coordinator and keep edwards in his senior defensive assistant role. Again, I don’t know if edwards would go for that or if the cowboys want that but if the working relationship is a good one it could benefit us.

Anyone you hire is going to be a retread

No true, they can hire a position coach who hasn't had the opportunity to be a defensive coordinator.

Someone who can add some new innovative defensive schemes, not one of Jerry/Stephens buddies.

"Step right up! Step right up! Round and around it goes..." said every carnival barker and circus show person (just like Barnum and Bailey Jones)

zimmer relies on blitzes and strong DEs to generate pass rush. when he doesn't have that, his defenses struggle.

plus we have edwards, who worked for him and was let go to put Zimmer's son in his place. that's not going to be a good dynamic, which would mean we probably would lose edwards too

(the bolded) If we retain Gregory and he can stay healthy, I think we have the right guys to make that happen... My biggest concern is anyone outside (coming in) not using Parsons like Dan did....

so gamble on a complete unknown right now? with the teams limited window to compete- already closing? with a generational talent in parsons?

Yes, at some point, every head coach/D-coordinator/O-coordinator was an unknown at one point.
