Know what doesn't at ALL help?

Failure being rewarded publicly in an attempt to make themselves look better.

The same problems defeat this team year after year.....complacency by the players that's created by the owner.....the perceived real boss.

No coach can do much about that. They aren't allowed.

Maybe these clowns would back off for Payton, but very doubtful.

Yup. See no further than their support of Kellen "Genius" Moore. You've got the alleged most potent offense in the NFL, and you beat one winning team. One. And that was week 2. So how mad do Daddy & Son get? Do they go out and talk about how we need to be held to higher expectations befitting of America's Team? Declare that we as fans deserve a better product? Nope...we get "The cap is real"...."We think the world of Kellen."
26 years and counting.

Well, group the kid in there.

The HC and OC were both clearly endorsed by one or both.

Maybe Jerry was pissed for a day, and I guess some folks bought that.

The OC couldn't adjust his balls, yet "we think the world of him."

The HC.....who reminded everyone daily that he knew how to win because it happened once before with an arguably GOAT QB who later turned on him.....had a team that didn't look all that prepared OR enthusiastic to me.....was said to have never been in trouble.

Really.....its failure after failure that's spun as being acceptable. The players hear this and know it, and the ones that have been here the longest seem to be the most apathetic.

Other teams have no problems making big moves and shaking things up. We shop in the FA bargain bin so we can overpay our draftees so we can tell ourselves how great we are at drafting, and get our friends paid.

You and I are generally on the same page, just maybe the magnitude of certain problems are seen differently.

I certainly respect if you see these things as less of a problem than I do.

I think McCarthy heading into this 3rd year needs to improve on what they were able to accomplish this year. Cowboys pulled 12 wins and I think most of us would agree, not good enough.
Moore I agree did some good things needs to step it up but reality is in 3 years as OC his offense has ranked 1st in 2019 and 2021.

More should be expected but I'm sorry if I'm not ready to join the pity party and act as if there is no cause for optimism.

I do think this upcoming season is big, we can't do as we have done under Jason where we would take 1 step forward with a good season only to turn around and be a 500 team the following year, he never could build off the positive season. McCarthy has a chance to build off this 12 win season, if he fails then he should be replaced. As for Jones and the organization i expect them to go out and bring in talent and do what they can to keep some key players in FA

Philadelphia alone was markedly better than anyone had anticipated, and that was despite having a young, inexperienced quarterback and head coach. And if anyone remembers correctly, that head coach was undermining his own team running a pass-happy offense. Once they started running the football, they were a much-improved team. Washington lost their projected starting quarterback at the very beginning of the season too. That's unlikely to occur again. And the Giants were a trainwreck last season, starting with the head coach. Competence from their new staff would be an improvement.

The only thing that would give me pause about Philly is this notion that once they ran the ball they were better.

The issue with that is when they started to run the ball, their schedule got really weak and they faced some of the worst QBs you may find on a schedule. Once they faced a real team, they got rolled off the field again.

Really, our only shot is to eventually land a QB that is far better than everyone else.

The Cowboys have drafted one QB in the first 3 rounds the Aikman/Walsh days. It was Quincy Carter, who they moved up in the 2nd round to draft. In 2016, Jerry bemoaned his failed attempt to move into the 1st round and grab Paxton Lynch. They also tried to move up in the 3rd round for Connor Cook before settling on Dak in the 4th.

So, in other words, the chances of them landing a QB "far better than everyone else" are slim and none. Pretty sure ol' Slim is heading toward the exit, too.

Blows my mind. And now that they've lucked into 1 Romo, I'm sure they'll feel like that is the NFL secret to finding a starting QB.

That’s exactly what I think too. If Moore fails he can be the scapegoat. It’s obvious that he wanted No business in the offense and was letting him sink. It’s very similar to the Wade/JG year.

Jerry likes to brag about the fact that both Quinn and Moore “would love to be head coach of the Cowboys” while he’s blissfully unaware of the potential hazards of that combination of ambition and lack of loyalty.

Respect your opinion, but the ranking of offensive effectiveness based on total yards in all games is as dated as a leisure suit.

Especially in the division we play in.

Things like that tell the two clowns what a great job they are doing, and they have such high opinions of themselves that they believe it and sell it.

Think players don't notice this, shrug, and say let's get paid....etc?

They do. It's impossible for any coach to motivate this group properly.

I don’t see Payton coming in and being ok with not picking his assistants. As you said earlier with Quinn being his DC. Those are two that know each other well and we have no idea if either would be ok with that. This whole operation is a wreck
