Prepare yourself for our offseason of same

Why should they change? Won the East, swept it, and won 12 games. Ratings and revenue are up and they're still doing interviews.

The question of underachieve is all about talent. We did our jobs. someone else did not do theirs.

The expectation of change is because we perceive change is needed but they do not. Just some tweaking here and there and we're all good to go.

Oh there is gonna be change. Too many FA’s not to be.

Exactly. As with Garett he thinks Prescott can learn to be what he wants him to be. Just as Garrett was, he is what he is an average QB that Jerry props up to sell fandom, tickets, merchandise and make money.
Yep....but another big problem of Jerry's is that he thinks players can be something they arent just because they are paid well.

Lawrence is the perfect example of that. He isnt a sack guy and never was, but since he is paid that way, Jerry figures he ought to be.

Maybe he figures these contracts will motivate these guys to be the best they can be, even more......when the exact opposite is the case.

Delusional thinking runs rampant and why should we think this gets any better before it gets worse?

Imagine the words Jerry is spewing five years from now. It's already way beyond the embarrassing point.

This off-season will make us look back at 2021 and have us wishing they would have really gone for it with a few more win now roster moves. As we move forward the next 2 years I believe we will see a sharp decline in player talent where Stephen Jones decides to part ways with guys who can play and go with cheaper long shots to replicate their production.

Yes. Stephen Jones will be the one to decide that.

Fans.

I think McCarthy heading into this 3rd year needs to improve on what they were able to accomplish this year. Cowboys pulled 12 wins and I think most of us would agree, not good enough.
Moore I agree did some good things needs to step it up but reality is in 3 years as OC his offense has ranked 1st in 2019 and 2021.

More should be expected but I'm sorry if I'm not ready to join the pity party and act as if there is no cause for optimism.

I do think this upcoming season is big, we can't do as we have done under Jason where we would take 1 step forward with a good season only to turn around and be a 500 team the following year, he never could build off the positive season. McCarthy has a chance to build off this 12 win season, if he fails then he should be replaced. As for Jones and the organization i expect them to go out and bring in talent and do what they can to keep some key players in FA
Call me soft but I can care less if we are 8-8 as long as 1) we beat our division arrivals for both games and 2) we have at least 1 more win than the 2nd place team in our division. It has to work both ways.

I am much more concerned when we walk into the playoffs and not be prepared the way we were... This one and done crap is ridiculous...

So you don't care if they're 8-8 (9-8 or 8-9 now) as long as they win the division but you do care about being a one and done playoff team.

That doesn't make much sense. A .500 team making a playoff run is a unicorn.

I don't disagree. I think pressure will be on this staff but I think for many they want to change constantly and the end results is trying to get an offense to buy into yet another scheme. Moore has done some good things and some things that should be questioned.

"Ah peh eeehm dat weh"

Seriously how many times does he need to see that if anything, the motivation goes away after they get paid?

I hate to admit it, but I doubt things change much before Parsons becomes infected also.

It's a big paycheck and false stardom created by the ultimate snake oil salesman that buys off and intimidates any local criticism.

I need you to at least try to understand why denial is much easier.

I waffle between feeling foolish and frustrated these days....but it'll go away and I'll be back for more of the same.

I'm jealous of @Jake apathy.

Haters? Yeah right. This is a support group for people that need to accept things that they don't necessarily want to.

I'm getting there.

If we make the playoffs with a 9-8, 10-7,11-6, 8-9 record for that matter, what difference does it make? You're beginning to sound like Jerry where we have to win your way or don't win at all... What good is a 17-0 record if you lose in game one of the playoffs? The regular season record doesn't matter if you've made it to the playoffs thus, I can care less if we are 17-0 or 7-10 (as long as the second place team in the division has 1 less win). Before the first snap of the playoffs, we are 0-0.... I would hope you would be in agreement with me that the goal is to win a Lombardi… Not to be 17-0 and be happy...

The goal is to win a Lombardi and the path of most resistance is to be an 8 or 9 win team in the postseason.

This isn't very complicated.

Whether you like it or not this will not be an offseason of change other than the changes they have to make because of the salary cap and the possibility of losing Kellen Moore. They're not in the change mindset. They want to bring this band back together as much as possible for another tour. They're convinced they underachieved this year.

I kindly direct you to the Senior Bowl interviews of Jerry and Stephen if you disagree. They are not poker players. They're telling you what they really think and change isn't in their thinking.

The only change will be change forced upon them.

And you won't have a transcendent rookie to add to the mix next year to move the needle. I don't like to talk in absolutes but that may have been once in a lifetime. You don't even have a full slate of draft picks.

It's an offseason of great addition for the Giants, Eagles, and to a lesser extent, the Badwords of Washington. It's an offseason of minimizing losses for the Cowboys.

I cannot wait until next season. It already feels different.
Sadly, the the Jones’s and our coaches are reactive, and rarely proactive. The one thing the Cowboys have become quite good at is the ability to wait for the trend setters to move on, and then we piggy back off said trend setter while they’re evolving into something new.

We’re always behind the curve.

After Jerry, we have Stephen to look forward to then one of Jerry's Grandsons will take over.
Personally, I visit here for the laughs as deep down I know we are going nowhere fast.
This is an overrated circus of a team from its Owner to the FG kicker who stays relevant due to the popularity of the fan base and the TV ratings it provides to the NFL.
R.I.P Dallas Cowboys and I thank the Lord that I lived and experienced the glory years of the past.

For the most part, I highly respect your insights.. Let me ask you this.... If we made it to the Superbowl and won the Superbowl and we won it with an 8-9 regular season record, you mean to tell me you wouldn't be satisfied? Of course I'm being extreme and I know it's not reality... I'm just making a point...

notice I corrected myself... Again, I'm being extreme..

If we win a Lombardi I won't care what the regular season record was but that's like saying if my son graduates I won't care if he studied.

An 8 or 9 win team is highly less likely to win it all.
