Why the "Dak is elite" narrative is so flawed

Again...can you prove that he had more bad lines than the two that I pointed out? I can't because he had good to very good lines his whole career.

LOL what?

Romo had a good line in 2007 and 2008, 2009 he was running for his life in many games and eventually fell completely apart in the game against the Vikings when we faced an actual good defensive line. It wasn't very good in 2010 and freakin' Doug Free was moved to LT. 2011 to 2014 we were rebuilding the offensive line. The 2013 Cowboys offensive line had great run protection, but inconsistent pass protection. 2014 was when it all came together.

So Romo went from 2009 to 2012 with bad offensive line play, 2013 with inconsistent pass protection, and one great season in 2014. Delete your account and retire from watching football.

Doesn’t have to prove anything. All you had to do watch the the games to see they stunk. You’re infatuated w/ #’s. #’s don’t tell the full story.

Now...Dak in 2018 got sacked 56 times. That line featured a Rookie Connor Williams, he of leading the league in Penalties lore this year. It also had Joe Looney starting at center and Tyron and Zach missing 5 games.

Those 56 sacks were mainly a result of having problems at LT when Tyron was missing games and battling injuries. Chaz Green struggled mightily that season. His performance against Atlanta was horrific! Connor Williams also had his struggles. Zeke being suspended for several games hurt our pass protection.

Just out of interest where was the Cowboys' offensive line ranked in the league last season?

Romo was Houdini getting out of bad situations. He also was able to scan field quickly to find open people often before pressure hit.

I love this entire post. I couldn’t agree more, man. I think we’re all just frustrated because you’re right, Dak is paid like a guy that should be able to mask some of the holes.
I also fully agree about the o-line. We did not take advantage of those 2-3 years of absolute dominance from that group (2014 with Romo, included). If that could somehow be patched up (sort of like the Chiefs did this year), I think Dak would play a lot better and the offense would be way more balanced and consistent.
This franchise has several glaring flaws, some can never be addressed in my lifetime unfortunately, but if the NFL outlasts the Jones' than there is hope for some other future generations to be able to enjoy the greatness of being able to witness a young franchise turning point when Jerry first purchased, being a part of that 3 Lombardi experience that I had the pleasure of being heavily invested in, I can never replace.
Dont think I will live long enough to experience another dominant era like that Cowboys Era.
It was sweet. :D

Yes, easily, but so can you if you just did your homework and quit being a lazy info sloth.
If you make me I probably will spend the time to show you what you can easily look up for yourself... lol

He's not elite. End of story

Crazy, since this is where all the Dak zoids want to lay the blame for his troubles.
I don't.

I lay it on Zeke, bad route running, PENALTIES (OL WORST IN THAT CATEGORY IN LEAGUE) and horrible scheme.

Line play was fine.

Ranked pretty dang good, but when QB doesn’t scan thru progressions quickly and doesn’t see the field it make them look worse than they are.

They seemed to imply this when they brought up average time of blocking between Cowboys and Tampa Bay - either Dak isn't seeing the field well or the receivers aren't getting open. Could be a combination of both.

Its not going to be a pretty picture for Dak unfortunately.
His future does not look very bright, unless we spend the entire draft on OL rebuild, maybe he can hit on some 3 second reads.

Well I’m praying we both are alive to experience the next championship!! I was born in ‘87, so I missed watching the formation of the dynasty and only religiously started watching the cowboys during the last Super Bowl run in ‘95.

The Jones family really does diminish a lot of hopes I have for that, though. I think the only realistic way to win it all with Jerry (or even worse, Stephen) at the helm is to go on an extraordinarily unexpected run. I was really thinking that we had a shot at that this year.

But I know we’ll both hang in there! And hopefully we can all celebrate again, sooner rather than later :starspin:

If you support that, than I am of no service to you, or anyone else here with basic talent evaluation skills.

Support what?

I posted the lines and their accolades on the season. What do you have an issue with specifically?

Wow. I really hope you’re saying this just to show blind loyalty toward Dak or something. Because if you truly believe Romo had very good lines his whole career, I genuinely do question your knowledge of football. Not trying to be hyperbolic, but this is such a terrible take.
