I had read that last night. I like Pollard and do think he should see more snaps. One thing is mention is when trailing in games his snaps go down, I would contribute a lot of that because of his inability as a blocker in blitz pickups. I think this is an area this off season Pollard must improve on, but as a RB if you can't pickup pass rushers it is hard to keep that guy in the lineup and more so when trailing and teams are passing a bit more. There really is more to the position than just running and when a back is limited his snaps start getting limited. I hope this is something Pollard can work on and improve on and if he does I think his snaps can increase.

Coaches like Belichick would have utilized Pollard to a far greater extent. He wouldn’t care about where the #1 RB was drafted or what the #1 RB is being paid and would cares even less that the GM would be pissed about it…….we don’t have that here. The FO runs the roster utilization from their Ivory Tower.

"If there was a lesson about how to completely misuse a talented running back, Tony Pollard would be the prime example."

100% evidence of coaching malpractice. Moore and McCarthy should have been shown the door, but JJ held on to The Red Clapper for a decade. So, here we are.

I think this was more FO malpractice. Anyone with two eyes know Pollard is explosive. Mike and Moore can’t be that dumb

This is from a couple of season ago but shows the importance HC puts on the ability to pick up the blitz. Ronald Jones was benched because his inability to pick up blitz leading to a sack fumble that cost them the game.
"He works his *** off," Arians said of Jones. "He's gonna get better at it. We need him running the football. But you can't run the football if you can't protect the quarterback."

A second-round draft pick in 2018, Jones struggled in his adjustment to the NFL. He was a healthy scratch the first three games of the 2018 season and saw just 23 total rushes. But after a sit-down with the coaching staff this offseason and a better understanding of what it takes to be a pro, Jones has performed well this year, rushing for five touchdowns with 700 yards from scrimmage.

Buccaneers benched RB Ronald Jones II for missing blitz pickup (espn.com)

You want to blame Jerry or coaches well some goes on Pollard, he has to be able to fully do the job and if he can't think he will continue to be used in limited situations.

If you're Pollard, do you want to stay here after next season?
Depends on what they do with Elliott. He is definitely going to want #1 money as the clock is ticking.

Be interesting to see if Pollard gets "Troy Hambrick Disease" or starts talking about Elliott leaving a lot of meat on the bone.

I don't think any team is going to pay #1 money for a veteran RB looking for a second contract. The only exception I can think of is Derrick Henry and Tennessee made sure he didn't become a free agent. RBs are too dime a dozen at this point. I actually wonder if Dallas should pay to keep Pollard even if the market isn't that high for him.

Depends on what they're looking for and what they're already paying RB's. #1 money on another team isn't the same as Dallas.

Pollard had 130 carries this season, more than he's ever had (including college). He's never been asked to carry the load. I doubt he'd be as effective.

But the highest paid RB in football is probably not the best time share. There has to be a shake up in 2023, when Zeke's contract makes it feasible.

I'm not protecting McCarthy as he has many flaws but this is out of his hands. (as it's been widely broadcast on the sports shows as well as dallascowboys.com as well as here on this board) when McCarthy was hired, he was adamantly told by JJ that Kellen will be calling and scheming the plays and to not interfere... So in this particular situation, this is not on McCarthy (though again, he has enough other flaws, this just isn't one of them).. This is on Jerry and Kellen...

I don't think it has anything to do with coaching or scheme. The Cowboys Owner/GM thinks the highest paid players are his best players, exponentially so if that player held out for more money and undressed Jerry in the process.

Jones did not adamantly tell McCarthy that. Where did you get that from?

Its my opinion that im not sure he should assume zekes role....but he, like zeke has certainly been mismanaged.
Moore gets tony in the flats for a long td....then we never hear from him again.

Youd think moore doesn't want us to succeed with silliness like that.

Ok well put him as a WR I'm sure he can do more than the 2 yard safe passes Dak will throw to Schultz or Zeke. Keep ZEKE in to block

I'm not going to send a link... Try again... Do your own homework to prove me wrong.... I promise, that is exactly what happened...

lol You won't give link because there is none. You can promise? you can't even find a link. McCarthy when hired did an interview with Moore at no point was McCarthy ever told that Moore had to call the plays.

I tend to agree with you on this. Jerry speaks loudly with where he spends his dollars on players. I don't ever recall Jerry ever saying he made a mistake by paying a certain player high dollars, so I suspect he never would. His inability to admit his mistakes is just another part of his unaccountability as a GM.
