What difference does it make where one sportswriter ranked him? The fact is he did not play well when it counted down the stretch. He played poorly and he admitted he played poorly. The simple fact is he cannot play that way if the Cowboys are going to win anything.
I agree with the writer part but I also agree with where he has him and the reasoning.

Prescott said the calf injury was an excuse given to him by others beyond the actual effect of that and admitted he did not play well.

The team needs to assess if this system, this offense and play calling, suits his game because it came undone as the season progressed. The OL is also suspect because this team needs the run game as the fulcrum of the offense.

One thing that happened when Romo was renewed, he started participating in the game plan on Tuesday's and it improved. I do not know if Prescott has the same offensive mind as Romo but there are contributing factors to his decline beyond some slump.

The guy is in the MVP talk and stumbles down the stretch and unless that is addressed, it will repeat. These DC's have all the film they need. Prescott no longer uses his legs as he used to and he needs time and a clean pocket.

What I don't get is the man has admitted his game fell off, he did not play as well as he is capable, what else do people want from this guy, he is not taking the excuses given to him.

The other element to this is how come he's the only one that catches heat because of the team's record against the better teams? What about the coaching and the rest of the team?

Even more reason to bench him then. And it’s very troubling that we didn’t.

If we’re not willing to bench the guy when he’s injured, why would we be willing to bench him when he’s healthy and being outplayed by Pollard?

But he really was not out played by Pollard. They had different plays for them designed. But when Pollard did play more in place of Zeke and the game he had the entire game. He really did not do better. Just like last season as well. One big run made Pollard's stats seem better. And if some want to say Dak's garbage time stats makes him look better, than it goes the same for RB's as well. One big runs pads the stats.
Not Zeke's fault the coaches and FO did not shut him down, even though he felt he could give it a go.

Blame the coaching staff on this one, not the player.

9th is about right for Dak.

Fix the run game (bench Anemic Zeke) and the penalties (if the refs decide to stop ****ing us) and the entire team, including Dak, will be much better.
Zeke ain;t washed up yet. Fix the dam o-line and call the right plays. You'll see.

When I saw that this thread was only a couple of pages after being created over 7hrs ago, I discovered that most of the D4K haters sat this one out.

Does that mean there isn't much left after you remove the haters?

I just peaked the list. Once you get past #7 there is a significant drop.

Like....

1. Rolls Royce
2. Bentley
3. Ferrari
4. McLaren
5. Mercedes
6. Aston Martin
7. Bugatti
8. Honda Civic.

It doesn't really matter who or where you're ranked after $7.

"But but...zeke is fat".

Blaming zeke is the ignorant coward easy way out...and people think claiming zeke's demise makes them really cool in the know.

Zeke will NEVER be 2016 ever....not surprising it was one of the best seasons ever let alone a rookie season. He set the bar high and the cowboys used him up. Dak owes him plenty for THAT!
This last year, Zeke appeared to regain some form. But once again the o-line played musical chairs, played sloppy, and a OC who prefers NCAA Mountain West passing numbers over NFC East power run game. And a nagging injury that made him easy to take down.

Let's fix some shipt and give Zeke another year.

I think some people are tired of words. They want results.

Even the " I didn't play well" means nothing anymore. Really already know that. As bad as any excuse.

To be fair,

Lynch and Cook might have turned out just fine if their main job their rookie year was to hand the ball off to a RB that won the rushing title by 300 yards and was First Team All-Pro with the best O-Line in the NFL as protection. Then proceed to do that the next 2 seasons also.

Dak was just lucky enough to be drafted into literally a perfect situation. He was never asked to be the guy because Zeke was clearly the guy. Dak very well could've ended up like Lynch and Cook if he was drafted by anybody else besides maybe 5 teams.

D4K is Porsche 911 at #9, my favorite of course. I'd take that 911 over everything on your list.

9th is good . Always had him in the 10-12 range

Wilson had a down year. Cousins and Dak had similar stats so not sure why there's that much of a separation. Murray is 50/50 in my book. I honestly don't see him getting better. Big Ben has been on a decline.

With Brady, brees, big ben gone certainly helps him move up although as stated above dak was better then ben in the recent years.

Carr is always a wild card. Either has a great year or gets thrown into the mix in the rankings

I love the ones that say win something while they tell me how great Herbert is....I think he is a good young QB, but why does he not need to win something to be put with the rest?

Dak is ranked top tier against NFC east teams. The majority of his stats were highly elevated because of the 50 point games against the Eagles, Commanders and Giants.
He gets outside the division. And your looking at a .500 QB. He looks terribly anemic when the Cowboys face a good team. Without Anthony Browns interception and handing the ball to Dak on the 7 yard line the Cowboys managed 14 points against the 49ers. Dak is just good enough for Dallas to stop searching for a truly elite QB. Dak is more in the 15 range for ranking QBs.

Wish he won in something other than popularity contests. 9-15 on any given day but he needs to show up when it counts, it's a process right.
Oh, that’s not a “popularity contest”, that’s a ranking of his value as an NFL starting QB based on the opinions of the only people whose opinions really count - NFL personnel.

Not a single one of those groups will rank him outside the top 10. I’m sorry if that tweaks you.

When the team becomes championship-worthy, maybe Dak can help win us a championship. The good news is we’re not that far off. This offseason is enormous.

Did you see what Matthew Stafford just did, compared to his 0-3 playoff record from his previous 12 NFL seasons? Team sport.

That’s fair, when Zeke was healthy earlier in the year he was productive.

Just annoys the piss out of me that we weren’t willing to sit him down for the betterment of the team when he wasn’t healthy. He even got EIGHTEEN carries in Week 18 so he could get his precious 1,000 yards for the year.

Stupid teams make stupid decisions like that.
