Why are so many Cowboys fans obsessed with WR?

I'm not a fan of a WR in the first.
However, I would be surprised if they didn't draft one between rounds 2-4 depending on how the draft turns out.

The Cowboys are banking on CDL and Gallup as the #1 and 2, but behind them it's journeymen/unknowns that have experience but not a lot of results.

It's amazing to see how many people are in support of drafting a WR in the first round or even the first 3 rounds. It seems like this is the case almost every year no matter what. This is also in spite of the fact that our two best teams since the 90's were heavy running teams (2014 and 2016). Furthermore, Dak is an average QB so the best thing you can do for him is run the ball more.

Like most years, WR is the least of our worries. We just drafted one in the first round and signed another to a big contract. Washington will be a fine third receiver. We have a million other needs so drafting a WR before round 5 would be incredibly stupid. Unfortunately our front office is also obsessed with WR's so lets hope that none fall to them.

Because Dak struggled prior to the arrival of Amari. He's not the level of QB whose going to make WRs look good. He needs them to make him look good. We need 3 circus catching freaks at wr b/c the balls will be coming in high, low, and behind them.

I don't know. I do not support a WR in the first 3 rounds. The 3rd round the earliest, and only if it's the obvious choice.

who’s obsessed with drafting a wr?

and we have zeke (guy from 2016) and pollard.
Pollard needs a few more carries and needs to be involved with the passing game as a receiving back more often. He can do more and probably wants to do more.

Are you sure they are in favor of that or resigned to the fact this owner might do that? Did the team really need a WR in the 1st in 2020? Just traded a 1st for one.

CB's, WR's and DE's are sexy picks to this owner. He would have gladly taken Horn or Surtain over Parsons had CAR and DEN not done the fans a favor.
Lucked out into getting Micah.Worked out pretty well though.

I tend to agree but sadly I remember the year we had to trade for Cooper. I'm not about to start a bashing Dak response, but I will say instead of our QB throwing the WR open, he tends to wait till there is a WR with separation. Knowing his tendencies, we need route runners and not huge WRs that can jump and fight for the ball.

I am totally against a WR before round 3, but I would love to see a burner with a good route tree in the 3rd or even later if there is any left.

You have a great point in that the offense did not open up until we traded for Cooper so it makes sense that people are concerned about Cooper's departure. At the same time, Dak hasn't had a lot of big physical receivers to throw the ball up to either though. He got Dez on the backside of his career, who still produced somewhat in Dak's first season. Brice Butler and Terrance Williams weren't small receivers by any means but they didn't play the "throw it up and let them get it" style either, they were really deep ball threats more than anything imo and both were below average receivers, although Williams had his moments where he looked like a legit #2. In reality, the year we drafted Michael Gallup and Amari Cooper those were the first two legitimate in their prime #1 and 2 receivers Dak has had. Who knows what Dak's playing style would be with a guy like Mike Evans on the team. I don't think he'll ever be the QB that throws guys open, but if you give him some big legit targets he might give them a chance to go up and get it.

The draft is about acquiring talent. If Burks is the pick then Moore will have to do his job and give CeeDee and the next Dez the ball. Like I have said before you can find a guard. You don’t pass on Dez jr.
You can find a WR. You don't pass on DJ Reader jr.

It would be a big mistake taking a wr at 1,like it was trading a 1st for one..we already have to many we don't use right to begin with...let 4 make due.

There are certain positions where a team can lose a guy, during the season, and then struggle to over come that lost. All of those positions are on the offensive side of the ball, unless you lose a defensive superstar.

QB is the first one.
OT and WR are tied for second.
A stud HB or TE is tied for third.

So it's not just this fan base or this FO that's infatuated with WR. The whole league share our concerns.
