Was he though? The drop-off of the line when Martin was not there was massive.

Maybe some think he was okay because so much of the rest of the line was so terrible with 3rd and 4th stringers half the time?
because in 2020 martin was nt the only player missing we had 11 different line combos over 16 games nearly all the starters were missing most of those games..the unit failed didnt look bad at RG

When you come in for a guy that gets benched, and they decided to go back to him after seeing you, thats usually a good indication that you are pretty bad. Regardless, its pretty clear what the Cowboys think of him
maybe at LG but not RG...same with Steele at LT vs RT some players ply better at different spots.sorry stop omitting facts. they cut Cwill kept CM well there you go that the clarity you need? not saying f CM is the answer but there's time to answer it..

Yet, when Martin was there at RG, even with all the other trash, it improved a ton.

The difference between the two was gigantic. So, either Martin was other worldly, or McGovern just wasn't all that great. Considering 2021, the latter seems far more likely.

Lol, there's nothing wrong with having McGovern as a backup guard. I'm not losing sleep over McGovern, I'm more worried about Biadsz, Steele, and Tyree Smith's development.

For 1 play every two weeks! Dumb.

He sucks get a backup that can actually backup at G!

LOL it was a joke. Having said that I have no problem with him being on the roster as a backup and get reps playing FB punching holes for anyone taking the ball out of the backfield.

Tyler Smith to LG, McGovern and Steele should battle for RT. Center should be up for grabs too

Three years in the NFL for high floor guy. He is what he is at this point.

When you get your chance because someone gets benched, and then after seeing they decide to go back to him, thats pretty damning
He was injured during his entire rookie season.

If we go into the year with him as the backup guard

He is fine in a backup role. You can’t have starter quality backups at all positions. What I am concerned about is the front office being stupid enough to roll with him as the week 1 starter if Tyler Smith can’t win the job. McGovern was a serious problem in his handful of starts last year. Quite simply not an NFL caliber starter.
