The first season was very good!
It was suppose to only last one season.
And then they (the network–I think it was CBS) wanted an additional season and the wheels came off the bus because they had to create new material.

I can’t believe how dumb the new Top Gun looks. These nitwits literally grabbed all the low-hanging fruits and just duplicated the iconic scenes from the original: the volleyball game, bar scene, sports bike, “watch him fly right by….”

More evidence to support my assertion that Hollywood has run out of original ideas. Why would anyone remake "Top Gun" and also "Firestarter"? Clearly originality is missing in Hollywood.

Went back and watched the original.
Had to fast forward through the bar scenes and lovey dovey scenes. I know they need the female audience to embrace it but that part of the film was just way over the top hokey.
Don't know how much of the "love" stuff will be in the new one but hoping they just go with the action portions of it.

I was thinking about this the other day, while watching the trailer for Firestarter, and thought, "Well, there are a couple of generations that never saw the original, and most of them don't want to watch "old" movies, so why not remake it?" Besides, it's not like it was a blockbuster, from what I remember. Kinda hard to replace George C. Scott though.
As for Top Gun, it's a sequel, and I'm curious where they went with it. As long as there's no Kelley McGinnis, or whatever her name was.

Doctor Strange 2 - 6/10
I had great anticipation for this film, especially after the events of Spiderman: No Way Home. I enjoyed the movie overall, but the film didn't meet my expectations.

- I didn't find the character America Chavez the least bit interesting and won't mind if I don't see her show up again.
- The "lost love" angle the movie focused on with Rachel McAdams seemed like a shoe-horned plot device. I know What If...? focused on it, but I consider those one-offs. I found this boring.
- Wanda as the surprise villain instead of Monster X was intriguing, but strangely timed as mentioned in previous posts. Anyway, I'm sure she'll return if they ever get around to House of M after introducing mutants.
- I would have much rather seen more Dr Stranges from different multiverses be the main conflict (more than the tiny bit they tossed in there)
- Illuminati sure did come off as weak in their first introduction, getting their butt handed to them.
- More Baron Mordo scenes please, especially after the end credits of DS1
- I think Dr Strange may be better as a cameo rather than a headlining hero.
- I still had a good time watching it

Like there haven't been enough exorcism movies already! I thought when the did the one with the rabbi performing the exorcism, that would be the end. Seriously, we've seen exorcisms performed by multiple priests, a Native American witch doctor, rabbis and now what? A ships captain?

The Northman Had high expectations for this movie. It fell well short. Really disappointed in this one.

Just watched Uncharted. It was a fun watch and I thought it was an entertaining movie. I did, however, have a bit of a hard time buying Wahlberg as Sully, but otherwise, it was good. Surprisingly they stuck somewhat close to the Uncharted 4 storyline. I did enjoy some of the easter eggs they threw in the movie too (example: nate uses a gold shield to deflect some bullets. It is the save icon in the game).

Why do they keep doing Batman movies?
How many zombie movies can they make? What's next, Dracula Reimagined?
When was the last time you saw something with an original feel to it like LA Confidential or The Usual Suspects? They would rather keep redoing a premise like Taken. Olympus et al Have Fallen, Transporter or John Wick. Each one has to stretch the reality further.
One of the problems is the proliferation of streamers and a rush to get the content out. There is more work in Hollywood than any time in history and that is reflected in the quality of the writing and producing. It's not about what kind of script/screenplay can we get but when can we get it? Movie making is a numbers game.
Until film goers say enough to handguns filled with 200 rounds and no reloading necessary, they'll keep making movies to make money. And they have proof we've dumbed down because movies that really require thought or are considered art, do not make a lot of money.

In some cases there's also the thought that a movie could be made better with current special effects, and that would be true if the acting, directing, etc., were as good as the original.
Also, as I stated earlier, since much of the recent generations want nothing to do with watching or listening to anything that was made before they were born, remaking a movie is the only way some will ever get to see it. How many kids today know what Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is?...I saw it in the movies when I was a kid, and I still have no idea.
