The Commissioner has confirmed one of the worst-kept secrets in the NFL.

Appearing on CNBC, Roger Goodell said that Sunday Ticket will exit DirecTV after the 2022 season.

Goodell said that Sunday Ticket will end up with a streaming service, and that a decision will be made this fall.

CNBC recently reported that Apple, Disney, and Amazon have made bids for the out-of-market viewing package, with the three corporate behemoths waiting for the NFL’s next move.

As also reported by CNBC, the contracts between the NFL and CBS/Fox prevent the DirecTV successor from significantly slashing the $300 per year price for the package. This protects the companies that have paid big money for the ability to put games on the local affiliates available in a given area.

Never get it free two years in a row. Since they’re losing it I’m sure they won’t give it away this year anyway.

Once it moves to a new streaming service I’m sure they’ll use to entice new subscribers.

May have to pay full price for the Sunday Ticket but receive rest of streaming service free. They’ll come up with some kind of promotion,

Bro, if you know anything about suffering in this population, it's that people in general won't stop paying for entertainment. That's why businesses know that they can keep charging more for stuff and still make bank. Especially for the NFL which has almost zero competition. People like to think they have more power than they actually do. Look at the NFL itself. A few years ago people swore up and down that they were going to bring the NFL to its knees (see what I did there?) and now the NFL is as big as ever. People are so dependent on entertainment in this country that they will pony up the funds and like it if they know what's good for them. What are they going to do instead, actually talk to their spouses and children? God forbid they actually get out and do something physical to help their bodies. The NFL laughs at you. Lol.

It's actually 18 weeks when you factor in bye weeks for everyone.

By the way, NFL Plus (or whatever they'll call it) would like to use you as their spokesperson. They like your price reframing and think they can get away with $19.99 per week x 18 weeks = $359.82. That's what I would do if I were them.

Yea. And I expect they’ll do better than that throwing in their service free for months or a year if you subscribe.

When I consider that I can watch every NFL game for about the same price as 4 or5 gallons of gas a week , I certainly can see the value.

People whizz money off on much less meaningful vices . If you love football and the NFL, the Sunday Ticket is a bargain.

I have 5 TV’s in my sports cave and can put a couple more games on lap top and IPad or IPhone if there’s enough games being broadcast. I never go out on Sundays during football season. It saves me hundreds if not thousands of dollars for Sept- Jan.

Not really any more than before. Vast majority of people don't cut costs, they just accept more expenditures. That's how consumerism works. You just consume and consume and consume regardless of cost.
