Well, he did miss all of last season and got paid about 20-30 million less than what good starting QBs are getting paid

If there is significant backlash from the media they would. Probably why the process allows the NFL a 3 day period to appeal after the ruling has been made.
3 days to see how the media and fans react so that like a wind vane they point in the direction of the prevailing wind.

Minor criminal.

Fixing games is a major crime. That's why you cannot bet on the sport you are assoiated w/. Think of it this way. Rose bets his team will win today. Soooooooo, he pulls out all stops, completely uses up his pitching staff making him lose the next 3. Think about it.

Or, what if there is a point spread involved?

Betting on his own team changes the way he coaches. Major, major crime.
Agree to disagree. Gambling, illegal or not, takes a back seat to rape. JMO.

This situation will end up costing Watson 22 games and millions of dollars, along with endorsement deals. He won’t likely get any TV work after football. He’s paying a heavy price.

He was paid last season and his salary this season is only $1 million because a suspension was expected.

He's only losing around $300,000 in salary, but his reputation is shot. He'll get by on $229 million, though.

Oh, it absolutely is.

Jerry wants to be part of the good ol' boys club, but wants to do whatever he wants. They keep slapping him back into place. Remember when he tried to shove a pile of salary into the uncapped year? Slap. He and Schnyder both. They were the only two owners who bucked the league. Slap. League suspends his player for 6 games. Instead of throwing himself on the mercy of the NFL and getting it reduced to 4, he unwisely led Zeke to sue. Slap.

The NFL, through Goodell, can get excessive penalties called on us at will. Slap.

If Jerry would cut his crapp, we'd be much better off.

Not to mention all the bs calls that go against us, and the rarity of our opponents ever getting called for holding.

You think the league is going to drag this out? I know the Woke media wants its pound of flesh. The NFLPA would fight it and bring in the owners allegations.

so it's "woke media" that thinks egregious actions should have consequences? lol. y'all are wild

The moral of this story is join a union with a collective bargaining agreement. I told everyone it was going to be 6 games. Watson never had a past history, and it is the max they could do under the collective bargaining agreement.

He was not indicted. You know you can get happy ending massages in Texass.

If you disagree with me, the by all means, state your case so we can better understand each other. There is no need to imply insults.
My compliments for your excellent reply. Like a fine modern gentleman.

I've noticed an increase in , or maybe I have just noticed:) these coy sly (subtle) remarks and insults.

It's one thing to disagee and even argue. But to act like someone else is so dumb and yourself is oh so very clever...

and yet HERE we all sit....not running or own champions teams.

ok CReeper... my words should not have went at yiu like that... they are really from weeks of people that dont use factual info to make comments.

So, Ill ask you this. Do you understand exactly what the CBA says and the parts of the CBA that specifically apply to the case involving Watson? I dont remember exactly what it says, but I did read it before.
Do you understand exactly how the arbitration process works?
Do you understand that the arbitrator can only use actual evidence presented at the hearing? Meaning, the NFL interviewed 12 woman, out of the 12, they only felt 4 were credible enough to present their stories to the arbitrator.... meaning that as far as this process is concerned, there are only 4 accusers, not 24. The fact he settled any case is irrelevant to the arbitration case.

I was in the union when I worked at UPS, I was the head of my teachers union for 6 years at my prior school. People say these arent legal proceedings, and while that is true, you need to understand that the whole process is very much like a legal proceeding in that they have a contract with rules to follow. You cant just say well this is what I think, or this is what happened before.. no, you follow the procedure that has been agreed upon.

This is why so many people cant understand, wont understand, or are not capable of understanding this process. They keep throwing out 24 accusers... NO< THERE IS ONLY 4 as far as this proceeding is concerned and people just can not get over this FACT.

He was getting paid not to play last season. Not too bad a gig. He was in the second year of a contract extension he signed with the Texans in 2020. If he played out that entire contract it would have averaged out to $39 million per year. That is fair amount.

rape..... see this is where you lose any ounce of credibility you may have. Watson was never accused of raping a single person. Facts... try to use them.

I hope this gets dragged out. Not because I think Watson deserves more punishment, but because I would like things to get really sorted out and strong precedents set. I felt the same way about the Elliott case. In my opinion he should have kept pressing the issue. Plus the deeper things get pushed the more comes out by both parties. Would love to see what tidbits come out from both sides in court. It won't happen. It isn't cost effective for the player or NFLPA to go too far with things.

Who is this judge and why did Zeke's suspension go through an independent judge?

I could definitely be wrong about this, but doesn't "forcing women into sexual acts" fall under the definition of rape? Perhaps the legal definition varies from the dictionary. Of course allegations are not the same as something definitively happening.

What is Watson accused of?
The lawsuits say that Watson sexually harassed and assaulted a number of massage therapists. The specific accusations are wide-ranging but include descriptions of him exposing himself without consent, forcing women into sexual acts and making veiled threats

what you are seeing today is a result of what happened with Zeke. This is hilarious.

Rice gets punished and nothing... then video comes out and he is essentially kicked out of the league.

Zeke gets a ridiculous punishment... so everyone screams that Roger should be removed from the process.

Roger is removed from the process, a mutually agreed upon arbitrator is tasked with dealing with the case. Arbitrator hands down a ruling that people dont like, and this is no th e worst thing to happen since the atomic bomb was dropped and this can not be allowed to stand.

This is why a process called "Voir Dire," is what decides 99% of cases before the case even begins.

People scream "Justice was not served,"... only when a verdict they dont like is reached. Nah, Justice is always served when a case has gone to trial and a jury reaches a verdict. It as good as we got.
