Signed by Cowboys Cowboys signing Anthony Barr

I can get behind this. Good depth at an important position.

The one thing that I do like about Barr in Dallas is that he could at times be used as a 34 OLB/edge opposite Parsons, if that’s how Quinn wants to use him.

I don’t think it will happen a lot, but it is just another option. There are a lot of different ways to use the personnel in that look. Could have Parsons/Barr at OLB with Williams and Lawrence at 5T on third and long snaps.

Quinn was going to be creative anyway… Barr might can add to that. But who knows? It might never happen.

NASCAR package? Linemen -- Williams, Lawrence, Golston, Fowler and linebackers -- Barr, Cox, Parsons.

Something like that… but that wouldn’t be a 34.

But yeah, that’s the point… Quinn will have a lot of different personnel to use in a lot of different ways.

It will be in the nickel (or dime) so it isn’t going to be a 34 or 43 strictly speaking. Either way, LB’s will be taken out for DB’s.

Just moved Fowler to linebacker. So it's fixed.

I will say this, Quinn is being more set up for success than either McCarthy or Moore for that matter.

I added to that post too that it will have to be nickel or dime on 3rd and long anyway.

‘It would just be about the technique that the DLis using.

Yeah, I actually think our NASCAR package (primarily Lawrence playing DT) will come in the nickel, where we have two linebackers and Kearse playing the third LB. There may be some of the pseudo-3-4 sets where we'd essentially have Barr as an OLB, though, but probably closer to a 5-2 with Barr and Parsons at LB, Armstrong/Fowler, Odig/Golston, Watkins, Gallimore and Lawrence at DL.

Certainly seems like after years of playing offense, we're more focused on playing defense this year. I know that we used the first-round pick to fix the OL, but our WR corps right now is looking a lot like 2018.

About time. A LB was needed for months now. Awesome news. I’m no huge Barr fan and am not expecting him to be what he once was but our LB depth was horrible. Much needed signing. Next up OT, WR, C and DT…

he is probably a blitzing LB, run stopper as he is a big liability in coverage. I think we are just hedging our bet. not sure if he will play the left side or right side....

so lets temper the enthusiasm. its been a few years since he has really done anything. he is not Miller and won't be an impact player....

Another over-the-hill signing with a notable name that appeases the casual fan. I’m not impressed

He was a good pass rusher in College , liked this move, Parsons and Barr attack the qb.

Hope he does good this year.
He has a defined role carved in no time if he stays healthy and on track.
Quinn is just trying to stack the WLB/safety, call that player whatever you want, but Q covets them in this scheme.

And don't forget about Kearse.

Having the personal to play a base big nickel would be something.

No way. He’s a big part of the defense. I was really just talking about the rush guys though… or a possible combination that Quinn could use to let Barr rush the QB.

The truth probably is that Barr will rush the passer very little.
