You said one line that explains it all!!!!!!! See bolded, X gadzillions.

It appears as if they're going out of their way to show us just that.

Yeah, I've mentioned this before. But it's hard to believe because they've been in this business for how long? But if you ask yourself, what would an amateur do if he was afraid to make mistakes? Exactly what the Cowboys do in the offseason.

More like, completely confused because none of their cornball ideas have worked.

Now it's just build through the draft. So it takes a few years to get an offense going. By that time the defense deteriorates. Or vice versa.
exactly, which is why you cant build a great team with just the draft.
The other thing is those players they draft, if any good, then when contract is up they will want more than u can pay them.
So a team will wind up losing good players cause they cant or dont want to pay them when rookie deal is up.
Also at that point jones boys get nothing in trade for these guys, and that is just because they are not looking ahead in this area.

They think they can lowball these guys while paying a few on the team ridiculous amounts, (like elliot) then they lose that player and get nothing
back in trade. A smart gm would trade these guys a year earlier, and get draft picks or a player they need.

I'll tell you why... They over compensate.. When the offense was putrid, especially the Oline. They used a bunch of resources to fix the line. Problem solved. But the defense got old quick. Then they have to use a whole entire draft to fix the defense.. Things are looking up.. Now we got a old slow Zeke, 1 WR and Oline is looking a mess. Now its time to fix the Offense..
Be careful about what you ask for. The defense will shine this season and I believe the offense will be able to outscore most of their opponents this coming season. Making the playoffs shouldn't be a problem. Winning playoff games is the objective this season. We want another Super Bowl!

19th in yards , the difference from #5 to 19th is 34 yards a game. I take those points against at #7 and take those 8.5 yards a quarter given up
So Clev was number 5 in yards. But #14 in points and some still go by yards. Official what ever I want a d that doesn’t allow points.

600 yards over a season is an enormous difference. That’s the difference between allowing all your opponents’ RBs to be Ezekiel Elliot or Emmitt Smith. Allowing opposing QBs to be the Eli Manning or Peyton Manning.

In 2021, the O was top 5, we were 12-5, and we win the NFCE. We’re weeks away from the 2022 preseason, and we’re “a mess”.

Imagine…some people see an improved OL, and are intrigued by the youthful talent potential at WR! Hope…how delusional!
I don’t see how any one of us know what we are yet. Good or bad. And we won’t know until mid-October at the earliest. We could be better in some areas than last year, and worse in others.

Judging a team (either way) before the regular season starts is either fan hope or fan pessimism depending on what you want to believe. I always have some hope at the start of each season but I won’t be shocked if we aren’t as good as last year either. The NFL is one of the hardest sports leagues to predict from year to year.

36 yards a game allows all that, ok if you say so. Lmao.

Like you said, 36 more yards every game is actually a ton. Every 70 yard rusher is now a 100 yard rusher. Every win because you stopped them on the 30 is now a loss

Ah throwing insults then? Weak, dude.

It's like, you have these little ideas in your head, and since they don't make sense, all you can do is just insult people. Man, are you like 13 or something?

Straight to the victim card after I point out there is no basis for your argument.

What is weak is your argument. Someone with a leg to stand on would rise to the challenge. You whine.

I’m not discounting these other contributing factors. But the official NFL defensive rankings are based on total yardage.

You're discounting my asking for a press release, official rankings, or anything of the like to be found anywhere other than your head.

I can agree with all of this but the worse thing in my opinion that a defense can be bad is stopping the run.....again it kills a game when a team can run the ball at will on you..again not every team can but when you get to the playoffs most have a run game and we have been ultimatley bad at stopping it. So yes in most case not giving up points is a much better measure, unless that team can eat clock and you cant stop them because they ultimatley need less points to beat you....and of course this goes even worse when they can stop your offense.

Running the ball allows you to keep a winning score for about half a quarter, it doesn't get you a winning score.

We have drafted pretty well and hit on a few cheap FA signings. The problem we've had for years is bad contracts.

If you don’t agree with total yards as an accurate measurement that’s fine . But if you aren’t aware it is the measurement of the official NFL rankings you’re not properly informed. That’s on you.

Same reason most other teams can’t
It’s very hard to field a really good team on both sides of the ball
If it was easy they’d all do it

Not true at all, look at the numbers, you may learn something about football dude.
Yes, it is true.

Points allowed is a team stat. Yardage allowed is a D stat. Hopefully, you just learned something about football!!!!

And another insult. Give it up, dude, your crying is really really weak. Everyone knows that pts allowed is a team stat, not a D stat. If you can't comprehend that, you need to find another sport, because you don't understand this one.

Let me guess, another childish insult acomin'.
