Why should I stay a Cowboys fan?

If you can actually make a decision to not be a fan, you arent a fan. Its like being gay or straight. You are or you arent. I couldnt become a fan of another team if I tried, just like my love for boobies will never leave me.

I very much am a fan. I've been supporting this team for a long time, and I still intend to do so. But can you at least understand why I'd at least be questioning it, even if it was for a moment? Especially with the lack of success I have seen. There's no team I'd cheer on besides the Cowboys.

I plan to stay a Cowboys fan as long as I can stomach it. For the longest time, I've been a diehard Cowboys fan. However, I just have to ask. Why should I stay a Cowboys fan? This is the first time I can remember truly questioning it. However, the statements Jerry made about essentially wanting us to be talked about being more important than winning guts me as a young fan. I started watching this franchise in about 2000. I gobbled up everything Cowboys, and I still always want to stay on this board. That said, what's the point of cheering on a team when the owner cares more about the Forbes Bowl than winning the Super Bowl? It's clear now why he makes the moves he makes. It's clear to me now why he won't do what it takes to win, such as a proper GM, better coaching, and why it's always one side of the ball that's atrocious and one side that's not.

I'm writing this thread to ask for help. Help me to understand why I should stay a fan. I plan to do so just because I don't have another team I'd support, and I enjoy this board. Overall, I still very much enjoy the Cowboys, and I like our players. However, Jerry's statements felt like a slap to the face when I've taken every insult from other fans. I spurned the Eagles, whom most of my family supports. I spurned the Broncos when my favourite animal is clearly a horse. I spurned the Texans when they started to stay a Cowboys supporter. I've happily taken the insults. And for what? A team who is run by an owner who couldn't care less about winning?

Again, I'm NOT quitting the Cowboys. I'm more venting my anger with what Jerry stated and asking for help on why I should carry on as I plan to do so as a Cowboys fan.

Also, for those who say "You're a quitter", I've been one of the most positive fans on this board. I've always tried to stay positive no matter what. I'm still trying to stick to the Cowboys. Also, how would you respond to Jerry's comments if you were in my shoes having never seen us get to the NFC Championship game?

You're not asking the right question. The question is why you're a fan at all.

I'm a fan because my grandpa loved football and Dallas was our, "local," team so I grew up watching them. It helped that I was born in the same town as Troy Aikman and entered my formative years as the dynasty began. I have great memories of Cowboys football from my youth. Life happens and priorities change, but if I'm going to watch football I'm going to follow my team, good or bad.

I root for the Cowboys and the Bills. I follow the Boys and Bills up until the Boys lose in the playoffs and then enjoy the Bills.
Twenty seven years of nothing makes you yearn for a team that cares about it's fans.

You clearly didn't read the multiple statements I made where I'm not quitting. I was venting and expressing my anger about what Jerry said as a young fan, as well as questioning a bit (the first time I've done it, as stated) the reason. Obviously, I made my mind up during it that I am staying a fan. However, I've never seen us in the NFCC, and that with the Jerry comments is difficult.
Being a fan is being a fan. When things go ****** for 10, 20 or 30 years you’re still a fan. The ugly stereotype of Cowboy fans is being bandwagon fans. You can be unhappy with the direction of your team but if you consider not being a fan anymore you are the type that gives Cowboy fans a bad name. so when I read this type of thing, right or wrong it does makes me want to say good riddance.

If your questioning why, then I think you should go. Find you an NFL team that doesn’t want to make money.

Once you find that… maybe you’ll be happy. I wish you well.

Yah, you’re missing the point. The vast majority of teams value winning as much, or more, than just making money. If teams were just about making money, they would have their GM and Owner focus on marketing and have their VP for Personnel prioritize getting players for the least amount of money they can.

And you know that Jerry values making money with the team more than winning, how?

And saving money on free agents is for the cap, not their pockets. Remember when people complained and hated Jerry because he was trying to “buy” a championship?

Important lesson (and I am very serious) in life with all things, most pain and disappointment is derived from the expectations we place on people or entities, that those people or entities fail to meet. Strip away expectation, fandom is a wild ride, enjoy the highs and the lows. Hope against hope, by all means, but try not to expect Dak to be great, Jerry to be football smart, Kickers to make kicks etc. Might find less stress...it's is, after all, just a game.

edit: To answer your question...because there is only 1 team worth being a fan of, the other 31 exist to give our team someone to beat!

To answer the opening question - because Dak Prescott will only be the QB of the Dallas Cowboys for a few more years.

The team has won nothing for 26 years yet Jerry continues to employ the same GM that has failed to win any championships, or even get the team to one championship game. That’s how much he values the football side. Now ponder this: if the team had been losing money or value that long do you think he would wait 26 years to make a change ?

WWE is “ tainted “ ? How so ? Now the NBA they say the last 30 seconds are like a roller coaster of emotions. Intentional fouls can he make the free throw it’s unbelievable.
