You understand Tank was playing through injury and the game was a blowout right? They took him out.
Fowler is the one that SW has been gradually approaching his snap count per game and is the 1st time SW bypassed him.

SW was in the game early. It's not about the blowout. Parsons and other starters were playing very late into the game.

Thanks, so a false alarm? A quick scare? Didn't get to see it when CBS forced the PIT - CIN game on me, lol.
Couldn't really determine what area was in pain. The announcer thought maybe his ankle. To me it appeared that a big player fell onto his upper body.

I like how they’ve been bringing Williams in to spell Micah on some pass rush snaps.
I wish they had taken him out earlier yesterday
But he’s one of those guys who don’t want to come off and so dynamic Quinn probably hates taking him off
I’m excited about what Sam can be in the future

Like I've been saying for the past 6 games, a poor mans Micah Parsons.

Of course, since CBS pulled the game I missed the last 20 min or so. I was hoping Sam Williams would join in on the sack party but I see where he had 2 tackles for losses. Was it a fluke? Is it just me, but it seems that he has been surprisingly stout in run defense.
He was in the backfield a ton. He’s a monster.

You can ignore the blowout if you want but Tank was playing injured which created more snaps for everyone else.

Thank you Denver for taking Gregory from us. Doubt we have Williams if Gregory is resigned. He’s already an upgrade…

Sam Williams is a big part of why I’m excited about this defense. He’s like a poor man’s Parsons and he’s flashing all the time.

Sam looks a lot like a young DLaw. He is insanely powerful.
Going to be a monster.

Both good vs run but they get there differently.

Tank is more technique while Sam is pure speed and power.

I did, and it’s making my point for me. The first play he was literally untouched and chased the ball down from the back side. The 2nd play he ran past a TE and chased it down from the backside. 3rd play was good - albeit against a backup LT bc Darrisaw was out. Almost every play I’ve seen him make against the run is just chasing the play down from the backside untouched or beating a TE that looks lost.

Yes good against the pass, but I haven’t seen anything that dispells his scouting report yet.

His scouting report lacked context.

Sam played 5 tech in college and playing 9 tech with Cowboys.

5 tech or traditional 3-4 DEs are usually between 380-300 lbs and are responsible for holding 2 gaps.

9 tech is a 1 gap 4-3 DE.

Bottom line, Sam is excellent vs the run as 4-3 DE. Chasing backside and POA. Trust your eyes.

I’m not just talking about what the NFL.Com scouting report says, I’m talking about what other analysts were saying who do this for a living. They understand what his role was in college.

And yes, I 100% trust my eyes as well. I agree, he’s a stud chasing down RBs from the backside when he isn’t blocked I just want to see him beat OTs. We haven’t yet aside from 1 yesterday against a backup who had a PFF grade of 30 for the game.

Tank was much more pure power in year 2-3.
His technique is fire now of course.

Draft analysts are not even close to perfect, they get things wrong all the time.

And all of Sam's tape was at 3-4 DE not 4-3 DE.

In any event Sam sets edge vs run better and more consistently than Dorance Armstrong.

Of course they aren’t, but they spend a lot more time on film and evaluating players than we do.

The first 2 videos are of him beating a TE and in the 3rd video the dude lost me when he applauded Williams for getting washed out of the play on the first clip.

Again, would love to see him getting off of blocks from an OT and actually making plays against the run. I’m not referencing beating TEs and being unblocked.

I can see the comparison, and Sam has more burst and speed than Lawrence ever had. Very impressive young player. Happy to have him on our side.

It's not the stats that Sam is putting up, but its the timing of his production how it influences the game.
Sam only had 2 tackles and 1 assist, but both of his tackles were tackles for loss in impactful moments of the game.
Sams stats are the definition as to why stats do not always tell the whole story on how a player impacts a game.
