So Alabama isn't deserving of a playoff spot, but there is a clamoring to go to an expanded playoff system that would then include Alabama.

Maybe it’s just me but I’m not so sure Georgia got the easier matchup…

Time will tell. I do believe OSU will be extra motivated with the possibility of a revenge matchup against Michigan in the same season…going to fun ladies and gentlemen. Enjoy!!!

Go Blue…

I think my Frogs got the best matchup they could. Georgia would have out athleted them. Michigan plays a familiar style

I feel Michigan got the favourable matchup. I did not want play OSU again so quickly. Should be a great game..

You having a math problem?

Bama with 2 regular season losses, missing the SECCG and it's best wins over 4 loss teams doesn't deserve a spot in the top 4.
But yes, it is a top 12 team. And yes in the new format it would have to play it's way into facing a top 4 team.

Neither the coaches nor the AP nor the CFB committee ranked Bama top 4.
It was always super goofy to do so.
10-2 doesn't get it done.

Let's see if Bama can beat Kansas State. That Bowl match-up is actually one of the likely match ups had we gotten the 12-team playoff this year.

12 teams is just too many.

Honestly, 4 is fine.

Half the time No. 3 and No. 4 are chum for the sharks anyway.
This year 4 was fine.
They could've even just had two teams this year.
But under the current system, hypothetically there could be 7-8 undefeated teams at the end of the year and only 4 would get a shot.

As for 12? Yes it's probably too many.

But hey, I don't even like conference championship games. Other than the Pac 12, they ended up being meaningless (to the playoffs at least) this year, for example.

I think you may have missed his point, jt

He wasn't arguing for Bama, he was arguing against a 12-team playoff.
At least that's how I read it

OSU leap frogs USC and the top 3 remain the same…can’t see why OSU would leap frog over TCU as well…
Flip a coin for me, but really, TCU has a better resume than the 2 loss Trojans....so not the same thing.

someone like Marshall could end up unbeaten and not played a single team ranked; and that would be fine with you to be in the playoffs?
Show me a year when there were more than 4or 6 true contenders.

AS I have said, show me a year when there were more than 56 true contenders

He was rather doing both is my guess.

But in no way does Bama not belonging in a top 4 make having a 12-team playoff a bad thing.
A 12-team tourney will force teams to earn their spot in the Semi-Finals and Finals and it will give more teams that big stage.
Bama doesn't have a single win over a team that will be top 25 ranked if they lose their Bowl game.

But would I like to see a KState/Bama winner go on to face Ohio State? Absolutely.

No math problem here. I don't think Alabama is good enough to be in the playoffs. Why expand the system to let in a team that isn't good enough?

I don't want to see a 12 team playoff. At worst, perhaps a 6 team system, but in reality as others have said it is rare there are 5 or 6 really good teams in any given season.

Because "good enough" is relative to the question at hand.
Bama 'could' be the best team in the country and win it all in a larger playoff format.
If so I am all for that.
Thats what every other sport does.
And in a 12 team tourney they are good enough.
They were not in a 4-team tourney.

Reducing 122 D1 colleges to a vote or a 2 team or even 4 team playoff have always been goofy.
But old men are slow to accept even obvious change.

12 team is quite good and will create a lot more quality football.

But Yes, like MLB, NHL, NBA, NFL, NCAAM, Champions League and NCAAW basketball all these things should flow through a conference or division and then seed into a playoff.
You should have zero argument at year's end and award a championship to someone that took on all comers.

I also think he will do a fine job as a coach on the field but off the field, I'm not sure. Deion has never been shy with his strong push for diversity. Just read tweeter questioned why he mention college football was 70%, black players. In other words, he's never avoided open discussion regarding his support of diversity. Just not sure how that will sit with some powerful boosters coz he's not one to play politics.

As someone who supposedly loves College Football you are clueless at one of the things that makes it different; that it used to be that EVERY GAME of a season was very important
Yet you are all for making that irrelevant
And one of the things that made it great was the arguments about who really was champion
Once again you are clueless to something that make it all richer
dilution of the regular season is NOT a good thing
All because you want things neat and simple

one can get so fixated on diversity that you begin to discriminate the other way; extreme in any direction is bad

I just said its possible that every P5 con. has an undefeated (r 1 loss deserving) champion....that's 5 right there without even getting started.
Or maybe a year where a team lost its opening game (say half the team had the flu...lol) by one score and then blew everyone out the rest of the way--including multiple ranked teams.

I'm just showing you the possibilities. Maybe it happens, maybe not.

Not really here to argue.
I have an opinion but I'm not going to whine about it either way.
