Don't even bother bringing up Brady. We can all agree he is an anomaly in NFL history and you can't really compare anyone to him.

Josh Allen needed Tommy John surgery from week 9 on and simply toughed it out. He is a great QB and Buffalo will be in the super bowl mix every year while he is around. Same for Mahomes and it will be the same for Burrow when he signs his second contract. Heck, Matt Stafford just proved last year that you can win with an expensive veteran QB if he's good enough.

BUT, having a great QB isn't the only path to a super bowl. Both SF and Philly are winning with defense and QBs on rookie contracts.

What you can"t have is a QB that can't perform under pressure and makes lots of mistakes. That doesn't win in any era.
Preach.

and the crazy thing is that Mahomes gave the Chiefs a sweetheart deal on his contract

that dude realizes that he can keep a great roster around him AND be wealthy

hes a class act all the way around.
He took the blueprint Brady laid out and ran with it. Taking the big money that handicaps a roster is incredibly short sighted. Hypothetically, if Dak took a lesser contract and won two or three Super Bowls, considering his position as the starting QB for the Dallas Cowboys, the endorsement deals and post-career opportunities would eclipse anything he's made in his playing career. Gotta get that bag though, I guess.

Same guy probably claims Dak is elite; so you know how much his opinion is worth
I have asked him why he would say such a ridiculous thing. He just doesn't like the guy and has somehow allowed that to completely override the logical portion of his brain. It's crazy .... but at least he's consistent. ;)

Which is why so many of us made that argument when they were negotiating. If you truly like your team and won't to be successful, you understand you don't have to set the record. Especially when you play for this franchise. You only have to be a record setter if you are trying to stoke your ego or can't tell your agent who's boss.

3 of the 4 QB's in the championship games are on their rookie deals. Burrow 3rd year, Hurts 2nd year and Purdy 1st yr. In todays NFL maybe it just doesn't make sense to pay the big number and makes more sense to take a QB every year at some point in the draft just to always be churning the QB roster. In todays NFL you need to spread the money around. Thoughts?
I am just glad Purdy and Hurts got to play and Dak. Just to show them how a veteran QB does it.

I been saying as much for years.
And those guys on their rookie contracts? Run them. Treat them like RBs. Their 10th year in the league is not our problem.
Only think about signing a guy for a big money deal if you think you're looking at a HOFer.

I was one of them. Leading up to his contract negotiations, Dak had some good years, but it was fairly obvious that he needed a strong supporting cast to make the offense work. I was fully supportive of him until he, or his agent, demanded a short-term, massive contract. It took away any real opportunity to move the numbers around to sign difference makers in free agency. It left a bad taste in my mouth.

Mahommes on the other hand, a guy that had proven it on the field and won a Super Bowl, as well as taken his team to multiple AFC championship games, did his team a solid and gave them the flexibility they needed to continue their consistent success.

Last season, we had an opportunity the absolute best team in the NFL. The core was in place, and all they needed was one or two more difference makers on each side of the ball, but the front office opted to carry the cap space forward to prep for a 50m cap hit next season. This bothered me initially. After watching Dak lead the NFL in interceptions, because he didn't have the necessary weapons, because of his bloated contract...then turn out to be the main culprit in the playoff loss....I'll be honest, I'm kinda just about done with the guy.

Purdy is going to have a sophomore slump once DCs figure him out a little bit better. I think SF just found a guy who fits their system and is capable of carrying out most of what they want. He definitely should've been a Day 2 pick but no one comes in and just executes like he has. It's astounding, tbh.

Not every year but maybe every 2 or 3. Not undrafted rookies. This also goes for RBs

Guys, just remember it could always be worse when it comes to money paid to a QB vs their quality of play.

The Browns should be in the Superbowl this year lmao

Hmmm… how do you think Browns, Jets, Jaguars fans would feel after going through countless QBs every few years?

Contrast Brady with Brees, who pretty much took every cent he could every time.
One ended up with 1 ring
The other has 7
