If you ask me, this is exactly what we need. A guy who can play the outside or slot, and open up the middle of the field, stretching the defense.

Guy gets great separation, too.

Its like ground hog day every offseason. The WR with the first pick people come out again.

I'm really tired of the whole, a guy needs to be this tall, or this heavy, or this blah, blah. If a guy can play, he can play.
Waddle is tiny, Devonte Smith is toothpick - who cares??? Are we really going to pass on them?

IF we improve the run game, mostly by getting younger and improving RG, Flowers would be the perfect complement to Cee Dee, the run game, our TEs, etc.
Yep you nailed it. The run game is much more important and comes first. Which means Oline and RB's. WR is far down the list and you can get one later in the draft.

The way I see it, Zay Flowers allows you to use the length and size of your other receivers because you have to account for him.

You couldn't double Lamb as much. Plus, they've seen what guys like Cole Beasley can do. So it's not like they're completely unfamiliar with this type of WR.
Cole Beasley? Cmon!!!

I’m don’t disagree, but that’s how these scouts grade these players, how they will translate on the nfl level

We shouldn’t…been a flaw of ours in the draft over the last few years IMO.

We’ve had multiple mid rounders taken that might never see significant snaps because we drafted for a type over talent.

Long CBs that aren’t great athletes, DTs that can’t anchor, Gholston, etc…

Crap. I meant get younger at RB and better at LG, obviously not RG.

Terrible WR draft. Flowers is a good player but I couldn’t pull the trigger on him in round 1.

Terrible if you need a #1. I actually like it if you need a high end 2 or slot.
Now you and I know that with the exception of Johnson and maybe Addison this team won’t remotely consider any of the other guys especially in round1. I myself wouldn’t consider taking them in round 1, I like Flowers and I‘d take him in round 2, but some team desperate for a WR will probably take him in round 1.

Finally got around to watching Flowers, and I like him. Dude is a twitch machine and has great ball skills to win deep. I don't think he is as polished and silky-smooth as Addison, but he looks like a future starter as WR2.

He's kind of in the Brandin Cooks, Chris Olave mold as a twitched up speed guy who can produce both on go routes and quick hitters. But he doesn't quite have Olave's size or Cooks' low-4.3 top gear.

Either way, I think Flowers is exactly what the doctor ordered for this offense. He can win on McCarthy's West Coast staple routes, and we saw how even an old man TY Hilton could open things up with deep speed.

I like the player a lot, but there is zero chance the Cowboys take him. Their prototype has always been over 6 feet and 200 LBS, until they change that, I'm not a believer. Players like Addison/Hyatt probably have the best chance as they are 6 feet, but 5'9, no way.
I, myself, normally wouldn't want a 5'9" WR, but with the way the game has changed the short guys are having a big impact. Plus, with the Cowboys changing things up on offense and looking to spread teams out horizontally they will be focusing on YAC...with the majority of the routes in the west coast offense being short to intermediate and Flowers with his quickness and the ability to make people miss he would be a major weapon to have. With his ability to separate it can only help Dak.

They should. Flowers is a stud.

He can lineup everywhere and plays bigger than his size.

I was not even going consider a smaller receiver cause I know how this team loves size at the position, but they did sign Hilton which suggests they are open to the idea of having one. However, I believe the likes of Addison-gone, Hyatt/Flowers will either be 1st rd picks or too 10 2nd rounders, the team would have to take them at 26, which I think there will be better players at that spot

just draft ballers, regardless of size and where they fit best. We can figure that stuff out later.

Agreed and that is the dilemma. I think we will definitely take a WR early.

Last yr we waited til the 3rd and that has been a disaster so far. So I doubt we risk waiting to get the 11th-15th best prospect again.

Problem is it is a weaker draft and the top 3 (Johnston, Smith, Addison) will probably be gone. So we either take an early- mid 2nd rd prospect at 26 or end up taking settling for probably the 7th-10th rated prospect.

Not sure. Maybe McClay can talk some sense into them. This guy is like a Cole Beasley on steroids.

Reminds me of players they've regrettably let go in the past.

Flowers instantly upgrades your offensive firepower.

Like a Terry Glenn.
Teams will have to double him or at a minimum put their best CB on him, thereby opening up the field for Lamb and Gallup or Brown.
