This team can’t wait for a CB. Even in a deep class they are going to fly off the board. They don’t have to take one in round 1, but they can’t sit there in round 2. They blew it 2 yrs ago. Had all that draft capital and should have moved up for Campbell., but waited and reached on a talented player with severe character questions and questions about his love for the game.
That class was pretty solid too. If I remember correctly they just took the wrong CB as Samuel was available. He was rated higher on just about every board out there… but not for our brain trusts.

IMO probably so…the CB class is that good.

If you had to ask me right now CB will be BPA at 26.
The think the corner position can have different rankings team by team, depending what they want and who fits bests. For Quinn/McClay, they will be targeting extreme athletes with elite speed/length. I'm telling you if Ringo if there, they will have a hard time passing him up, he fits all those traits they seek at the position. Dane said the same things were said about Campbell coming out and he has turned into a good player. Banks might, depending on his timed speed, but cannot see them even considering a corner like Clark. Really like Cam Smith, but think he goes before us. Fully understand we can get wiped out waiting for a guy to fall to 58 due to the need of the position league wide.

And while I don’t agree with the concept, the good thing for us is most of the guys are 6’0+ and will likely have longer arms.

Witherspoon
Gonzalez
Porter
Banks
Forbes
Smith
Ricks
Ringo

These are all guys that fit the bill. It’s hard to rank them now but after the combine dust
settles I’d bet 5 of them test out like 1st round CBs.

Things will change after the combine, but the consensus is that the top 3 will be long gone and we both agree, if 1 slid, they would be the pick. Question is, who do they like best in that 2nd tier? If they went in another direction at 26, can they afford to wait it out for 58? I feel these corners are going to fly off the board.

This is probably an unpopular opinion but I don't see anyway Dallas takes a TE early in this draft, even if it's Mayer. They have too many other far more glaring needs than TE. Ferg is a really good player and they know it. Hendershot is a keeper and they know it.

As always you draft BPA, at a position of need.
O-line, WR and CB are by far our biggest needs.
I know the general consensus is to not take a OG in Rd1, to which I say; Zack Martin. So give me Torence at 26. He's a beast of a man and by far the best OG in this class. And they need to continue the rebuild up front.
Or give me either the best CB or WR, I can be on board with either of those picks. But only if he's that much better than Torrence. We can't be reaching in rd 1 just because we need a #2 WR/CB badly.

I just was listening to Dane on the draft show and he was real high on Banks. He said he did an excellent job covering Harrison Jr against Ohio State and is excellent in run support, would be a very good pairing with Diggs on the other side.

Yea, just listened myself and agree. He’s rising for me.

Banks has seemingly come out of nowhere. The entire Maryland secondary secondary got cooked by Rice who seems to be falling down draft boards. Banks seemed to get better but I do wonder about his speed and he seems to lack ball skills. But he does have the size and length this team covet.

Broaddus isn't really high on Torrence. Says he's top-heavy and limited athletically.

Musgrave is like a unicorn. He looked like Travis Kelce at Senior Bowl practices and drills. Crazy #'s at 6'6" 250 lbs: 4.51 40-yard dash, 36.5″ vertical, 10’2″ broad jump, 4.21 agility time. The injury and the fact that he only had 47 catchs and only played in 34 games over 4 years at Oregon State has me waiting for the other shoe to drop. But as far as the eyeball test? He looks legit.

Mayer would probably catch a ton of balls from Dak. He's also a plus plus in the run game (82.1 PFF grade as a run blocker).

I've seen a lot of Kincaid; he personally sonned my Trojans this year for my lovely visit to Salt Lake City. He's very, very solid. I'm not seeing the juice I want to see from a 1st rounder.

I want no part of Kancey BUT I could see Dan Quinn seeing a little bit of Grady Jarrett in him.
I've learned you really shouldn't listen to Broaddus much; he doesn't put in the time, and just makes **** up.

Are you guys not comfortable with Ferguson and Hendershot at TE? I was thinking we add a vet safety at the position or maybe draft one in later rounds. I’d prefer highest rated prospect on our board in the first. And I’d prefer that player be a WR or CB hopefully.

I don’t think there’s any danger of this team taking a TE in round 1. I just don’t know that they view any of these guys as that dynamic. But this is a good group. The question is how much better is it than what we have ?

if we dont draft a TE and let Shultz go we should be ok but if a game changing TE is there at 26 then we cant ignore it.

I am comfortable at tight end, but would consider Mayer and Musgrave at 26. Gibbs is my number 1 target at 26.

They can sign a free agent corner.

Mayer is a consideration at 26. He is unstoppable in the redzone.

Hyatt and Musgrave are my top 2 choices at 26.
Hyatt is a great fit in a WCO and Musgrave is the best day 1 TE IMO. Can block and catch with speed and size to develop further. Washington all blocking day 1 and Kincaid all pass catching.

I need to study Mayer it appears.

Banks/Ringo would be interesting options but I like the depth at CB for round 2 choices a lot.

Also he has Bijan rated 6th but noting he likely doesn't go top half of round 1.
A definite option as BPA if he falls to 26.
I like Tyler Scott in the 2nd round. I would like Mayer or Gibbs at 26. Charbonnet or Scott in the 2nd.

Too expensive on the open market, outside of a bridge starter
I wonder what Jamel Dean will cost/year? PFF guessed at:

Four years, $68 million ($17M per year); $47.5 million total guaranteed

Rock Ya-Sin is a physical, bully type corner. He’s not a #1 but I think he could be a very solid CB2. I love the attitude and physicality that he plays with. I don’t think he would break the bank… but he wouldn’t be a cheap signing either. If Dallas decided to go for a mid range option, he could be done. And he is only 26 years old, which is good because Dallas doesn’t like to pay age. He’s someone that could grow with the defense.

Someone like Ya-Sin, along with Bland and Lewis, would allow the Cowboys to not take a corner in the top couple of rounds if the draft doesn’t fall that way.
