LOL. some people claimed if cowboys drafted Lynch, he could have been good and better than Dak.

that's how far the hatred goes....

Disclaimer: Dak is not an Elite QB. never was. will never be. so don't go comparing Dak to any Elite QB on why you think he sucks because he doesn't play at an elite level.

27 years, the man still has fans on here somehow...
You mean people are fans, just because they don't think every tiny little thing he does is incredibly stupid, even if it's a mistake most of the league would have made?

Now and then, Jerry is right about talent evaluation but as often as not, he's wrong. Thank God for Will McClay doing what he does.

You're Jerry fan when you get sensitive and cape for the big dummy when we point out and augh at one of his failures currently making the rounds in the new cycle.

Nah I just disagree with the argument. if Paxton Lynch became an all pro QB do we give credit to Jerry for having interest? absolutely not, so why do we continue to bring up the moves he passed on that were the right choices? Every draft every team probably has 5 trades they discussed, but ended up passing on. I'm sure some of those they regret years later, and some they are glad they got outbid on, it's nothing new or unique to Jerry.

There is plenty to bash Jerry Jones about, but I'm a big believer that a bad argument can ruin your good arguments......this just seems like a bad argument to me.

The two notable players that we know for sure Jerry stood on the table for in the draft were Paxton Lynch and Johnny Manziel. If you think this man is anything more than dead weight on the rest of the front office then I have beach front property to sell you in Wyoming.

Ya'll say what you want about him, but you put him on that 2016 team with 3 first team all pro linemen and a RB leading the NFL in rushing by over 300 yards and he's Dak at worst right now.

Situations matter.

I remember wanting Lynch badly as well. College tape should have tipped me off but I loved the big arm

That's our GM!
For better or worse!
28 years and counting......
Sigh.......

- Not just Jerry ... the NFL apparently thought he was a first round pick prospect ... Lynch was projected to go in the first round .....
and Denver thought he was a first round pick.

- And we have a scouting department led by Wil McClay - who had to know his draft value board and worked accordingly.. Jerry was influenced
We just happen to luck out ....

Jerry coveted another QB a couple of years before in QB Johnny Manziel, and admitted he wanted to take him in the 1st round,
but luckily we were seeing a converted Jerry who was finally listening to other talking heads in the Draft War Room ( McClay?)
and gave in to drafting Hall of Fame OG Zack Martin.

Ah yes, Jerry made a mistake for not trading Paxton Lynch - because as it turns out Lynch is a failure.

I don't understand how Jerry made a mistake here.

Did not think he was first rd.

But then a lot of first rd QBs stink

BUT the fact that Jerry has a track record of liking First Rd QB busts is not something even his fans can cover up

AND the fact that of the QBs he liked at the start (Qunicy, Hutch, Henson, Manziel and Lynch) all in the end failed is something that should be remembered

Is he the only GM guilty of misjudging QB’s? Clearly not. At the end of the day his last two QB’s were Dak and Romo and neither cost a premium draft pick so I can’t really rag on him here. You can claim he’s been lucky but the same goes for every GM. He, or people he put in place, ultimately have managed to find some pretty good QB’s with very limited resources.
He had NOTHING to with Romo being put on the roster; Dak was his THIRD CHOICE after Lynch and Connor Cook another failure. So ANYONE crediting him with those two QBs is a complete football idiot

The mistake was in wanting Lynch to begin with.

I think this reflects worse on John Elway. John Dorsey in KC also tried to trade up for him. Imagine how that would have changed the course of history. He was a highly regarded college player that didn’t pan out. It happens. Jerry was stung by the same type of player when he drafted the Taco.
