Twitter: Bob Sturm: Price points for veteran WRs considered trade targets

Stephon Diggs, Brandin Cooks, Mike Evans, and DeAndre Hopkins are not cheap…and not that young either. Hopkins is 30; all others are 29. All currently on deals paying them between $20 and $30 mil/season.

Worth it? If so, which one? If we are paying Cedee Lamb soon, a move like this doesn’t seem like a good one to me.

Lol, and we got rid of Coop. Wow, that list is a kick in the balls. I hope the two chuckle heads in the FO feel it.

Rashee Rice in the 2nd. Gives you a baller for cheap for 3 years. No need to trade picks.

So we got rid of Cooper who makes less than these guys and now they want to make it up to the fans by overpaying for a WR?

Fire Stephen for getting rid of Cooper and not replacing him. I'm sick and tired of the FO making these dumb mistakes and then overreacting as though they know what their doing.

right, any fan who thinks after trading Coop for 5th and to avoid paying a WR2 2A top money that somehow, we should or expect the jones to give up ahigh draft pick and 20+,mil,

seriously,

its why fans would make terrible GMS.. Draft and tier 2 true FA wrs are out there, Gallup will improve next year, hopefully tolbert or anther come along.
No some of us fans aren't that dumb. But Jerry/Stephen think that we are dumb enough not to notice that this was their fault in the first place.

Could have just kept a 28 year old $20 million Amari Cooper and all of your draft picks and been done with this nonsense.
Good point, but as they say, that horse has already left the barn.;)

Stephen Jones admitted at the combine that they screwed the pooch at WR, so yeah, they got to get another playmaker at WR now and that is going to cost money and draft picks.

If the draft a WR early I’d be upset they neglected the OL and running game. If they give Ceedee $20m a year I’d be upset. If they trade Ceedee and draft a WR early I’d probably still be upset especially if the rookie doesn’t pan out. They almost have to pay Ceedee.

Why can't we just go with our guys? Cee Dee, Gallup and Tolbert? Coach him up a little and roll with it.
Because outside of Lamb, our WR core sucked last year.

Nobody could get seperation, I think next gen stats had Dak with the most contested catches by a WR core in the league last year and the front office is thinking that is why Dak's interception rate went through the roof.

Stephen at the combine this week basically admitted they botched the WR position by relying on Gallup and a rookie to pick up the slack and he indicated they needed to do something to rectify the problem this year. Meaning they are not going to make the same mistake twice and just roll with what we had last year.

So expect a new impact WR, either in the first round, through free agency like OBJ, or through a trade for one of the names mentioned in this thread.

They will pay Ceedee, they love paying their own.

But that is not the issue, the issue is having a stud WR opposite Ceedee, because what we trotted out their last year opposite Ceedee was a freaking joke and even Jerry and his idiot boy finally admitted it.

Cooper's 20mil per year for this year and next, none guaranteed, without spending a pick, is looking pretty good, ain't it?

I'm looking forward to pointing and laughing at Jerry and Stephen.

It wasn't really that complicated.

Put someone fast on the field and throw deep. Worked out pretty well with Hilton and Pollard. That's how you get separation. Stretch the field, and make them cover you over the top of that stretched field with speed.

Pollard in particular is such a no brainer. If some team is dumb enough to line up a LB against Pollard wide, send him deep and throw him the ball. All. Day. Long. There are only a handful of LBs in the league who have a prayer of keeping up with Pollard, and we have a couple of them.

If they match him up with a DB for their personnel package, run the ball.

It's a game of matchups, and we failed to fully take advantage of our best mismatch player.

Only Diggs is worth the salary at this point, but not the salary and a pick

A lot of talk that they really want to dump his contract.

The fact that the new team has to pay him 18M in 2023 limits the trade partners.

Stephen Jones wanted the Texans to pay his salary if they wanted a 3rd round pick ( i.e. Cowboys get him for league minimum).
If we can have them eat a few million and we’re paying around 12-15 it’s a no brainer IMO.

If we go out and get a receiver, I hope it is not anyone on this list.

Only one I want out of them is Hopkins. Diggs quits on his team, cooks too expensive for what he gives. Evans eh

Of that bunch, I take Evans. 9 straight 1,000 yard seasons.
But he is starting to drop the ball like dez did at the end of his career.

All are too overpriced. Draft one Man why did we trade Amani again?

If we are going to pay Cedee Lamb market value (and we will), and we already have Gallup on the books for approx $12 mil a year, it makes no sense to spend a lot more cap space on one of the pricier vets that may be available.
