Sources: Hopkins would welcome trade to Cowboys; willing to make financial concessions

Even though I should be used to this it's really frustrating to see the lack of effort to improving this team in the offseason.

Here we have a superstar player, the kind of skill position upgrade this QB needs, practically begging for the Cowboys to come get him.

The money? He'll work with you. He isn't looking to get paid.

The reported price? A 2nd round pick. To add one of the top receiving weapons in the game.

Too much? We have to hold onto those draft picks? Especially one that high? Let's take a look at what the Cowboys have done with their 2nd round picks over the last 15 years. Even with the great and almighty Will McClay.

Is there a player on that list better than Hopkins? I guess you could argue Lee, Lawrence and Diggs (I think he's better than all of them) but the fact is their usual return on a 2nd round investment pales in comparison to the instant impact Hopkins would provide in a supposed all in season.

He would make the QB better. Isn't that the most important objective this offseason so we don't have a 49ers part 3?

How could they possibly, even these colossal idiots, not be interested in this? Why am I reading a report like this from a legit team source?

It's an insult to the fans. It's why my blood boils every time we re-sign an old member of the band. Here's an actual real upgrade that can win you those playoff games, someone who can potentially change things and break this cycle of losing and we make no effort to make it happen. We're busy looking for bargains, not serious about winning.

But I guess this is what happens when you have a front office that chooses Leighton Vander Esch over Bobby Wagner.

Meet the new season. Same as the last season.

Here is a better question.........why isn't Hopkins a Brown, 49er, Seahawks, or any other 31 teams? In other words, it's not just the Cowboys, the entire league hasn't traded/signed him. Wonder why.........

BTW.....it appears this was started by Dez. FO hasn't shown any interest at all. We know for a fact they have shown interest in Cook, OBJ and Jeudy but Hopkins, none, zero.

Hell, Jerry has told us he wants OBJ.........listen to him coz I'm thinking he's not considering any other WR until OBJ is signed by another team.

They need to realize that no GM is as stupid as them to give up a 5th for a WR like Hopkins. But Stephen Jones is waiting for Arizona to offer up Hopkins for a 5th, just because he and Jerry was stupid enough to give up Amari for a 5th.

:hammer:The Joneses still feeling the effects of getting laughed at for making a trash trade.

But we know Dak won't do that. Dak isn't built like that. Dak will remain silent and collect his pay check because he doesn't care
Dak isn't gonna mess up his money train. Honestly, that's why I like Micah much better as a team leader.

Belt says cowboys aren’t as interested in Hopkins as Hopkins is in dallas

Says Dallas will not trade a 1 or 2 and probably not even a 3 for Hopkins
So they think Lamb and Gallup the gimp are going to get it done?

Or they go into the draft with every other GM in the league knowing we need a WR, that will work out great for us:thumbup:

These guys thinking Hopkins isn’t worth a 2nd round pick probably think Jaylin Hyatt is going to come in and get 1,000 yards and 10 TDs his rookie season.

Good points but Brady was on the downside of his career but the Bucs were able to get a Lombardi out of it.

at this point, I’m willing to take the risk on him.
I wouldn’t be comparing Brady a QB with DeAndre Hopkins a WR. Big difference between the Goat and a WR who’s missed games the past two seasons. Brady was coming off three 4000 yard seasons when he left New England. The Pats weren’t looking to get rid of him. He made the decision to leave.

When rumor of adams or Thomas or any fill in the blank big name stud come up I roll my eyes because I know we aren’t getting them. but when you parade around and tell us “we need juice at the position “ and adding playmakers while publicly flirting with a wide receiver who isn’t as good anymore and is more injured….it’s ridiculous.

Go get this guy.

Fair enough, I was referring to the fact that DHop won’t be in his prime but will still be a major contributor from day 1 and this WR corp badly needs a player of his level

Other than this, the main thing is what we would have to give up in draft compensation to get him

It’s always buyer beware any time you trade for an aging player whose numbers are dwindling and they’re missing games. The Cardinals are looking to move on because they obviously see some decline but they’re probably looking for a premium draft pick for him.

That’s the thing….don’t tell me in one breathe Hopkins is over the hill and then say let’s get Beckham. Beckham will cost less but he Carries a way higher risk of baggage whether it’s a lack of touches or stuff like the plane incident and he’s way less of a player at this point than Hopkins.

It’s just stupid. They won’t trade for him- I know that and they will make some move but it’ll be something much smaller instead of “going all in” which in actuality isn’t really going all in when you control all the rest of your draft picks moving forward
