I have no doubt Mayer will be an excellent TE. But he’s slow and not very dynamic. He pretty much does everything well. Having said that Fergs and Hendershot have a ton of potential and it seems like Mayer would be more of a luxury pick.
Mayer is very dynamic. Natural emotional leader and hard nosed football player.

Will improve both the run and the pass.

I don't mind Mayer, but think TE is a position you don't need to take high. Really think a guy like LaPorta, day 2 prospect, could be just as good.
I go for the fences and draft Kuntz, Musgrave or Latu.

There's also Payne Durham.

We have thoroughly vetted Washington,if they dont pick him at 26 then he is not the best player left which is ok

People were quite happy with him on this board.
back then no board had all that many people on it; you do remember how long ago that was, right?
That was why I was on 5 boards back then.

I tend to agree with the premise on value. I don't think using a first round pick on a TE is wise. The value just isn't there regardless of how athletic he is.

I am praying like hell somehow, someway, Darnell Wright falls to us.
A TE in the 1st would be a massive mistake.

I am not pounding the table for Mayer but here is the premise of the "dont take him at 26" crowd, they feel the team is going to wind up with some one considerably better at that spot. Unless someone unforseen drops a really long way I am completely unconvinced that happens. Generally speaking I prefer trenches and if I thought there would be a player there who had a long and really productive career ahead of him that would be the better option IMO but right now I dont.
They/we do? I haven't seen that. The ones who don't want Mayer don't think he's much of an upgrade, and don't see a TE improving our team all that much.

Ferguson/Hendershot both look more than viable to me.

Debate my points that I made instead of crying like a little …..
Your analysis is the complete opposite. I did on the other thread. Everything you said about him was dead wrong. Just look at your qoute:

"He has all the stats, but they dont mean anything" LOL

I guess you dont even see how that makes no sense.

You basically have nothing and this is what you come up with?

Cavanaugh's Thoughts on Mayer at 26

I don't take everything Jeff says to the bank, but this time his video incorporates analytics.

Agree or disagree, it's food for thought.
Have to trust the play on be field. You draft traits, you get Gavin escobar

Wonder why the skiny athletic tes are getting those highest scores? Because all the tes are built like this. When was the last old-school big te drafted this high?

I'd rather be able to get a player like Jack Campbell or Felix Anudike Uzomah plus a TE than draft a TE in the first only to watch those players fly off the board after I pick.

I'm starting to agree that TE in the first would be a mistake, especially when there are so many other prospects.

I think Noah Gindorff us going to be a good NFL player.

Plenty of people agree with me.

The entire video in the OP is just echoing what I’ve said.

Now shut your mouth.

College stats do not matter. Teams take these players on their future potential not their college stats. Duh.

Probably Cole Kmet.

These guys usually underwhelm as draft picks.

You draft a Cole Kmet, Kyle Rudolph, Hayden Hurst, or someone like they and they’re nice players.

That’s most likely what this guy is. A nice player. 750 yard and 5-7 TDs a season. Dime a dozen type.

I’d love Mayer in round 2.

I think Laporte is pretty close to Mayer and you can get him in round 2 most likely.

Stats dont matter? BWAAAAA!!! Because they prove you are dead wrong?

Mayer is the consensus #1 TE in this draft and a consensus top 15-20 pick. You and the PO are in lala land. LOL

You can never shut me up as you dont have the football knowledge to remotely get that accomplished.

"He has all the stats, but that doesnt matter" BWAAAAAAA!!!!!

Cavanaugh is a hack. And if he thinks Mayer shouldn’t be the pick then his past history shows he“s probably wrong.
