Parsons squatting 425lbs with ease is unreal

Had a kid squat 850 at a power lifting meet that i hosted...he got a scholarship because of that. He was about as big as me, but a lot stronger.
That's amazing, Coach! Wow, 850 pounds is a lot! I actually broke the old LF squat record of 725 lbs by 35 pounds: 760. That was a lot but still way less than 850. That's downright World's Strongest Man level right there.

of all the impressive accomplishments by Micah this is pretty low. I’d bet he can hammer out 10 of those if he wanted to. Even high school athletes can often squat in the low 400s.

It looks more impressive because he’s using rubber plates which fill the bar up.

I mean it's nice that he was doing it easily but seriously this wouldn't draw any attention in any gym I've ever been in.
 
I lifted, at Fort Knox, Ky, with a 160 pound lifter, who would squat 600 in practice routines.
Exactly....seriously starting to think trade him now for a QB while you still can. Or draft picks for next year

That type of gambling might better belong in Vegas where what goes down there, stays in Vegas.

The first time I moved 500 in a partial bench press...I saw stars for real.
 
Meh it’s a box squat, those are a lot easier than regular squats. Not really that impressive for experienced lifters
linebacker relevant as he has to run strong
 
I dont know about easily. The conversion chart dosent convert that 3 rep set to 600lbs 1 rep max.
If he worked out with some true power lifters for about 30 minutes, he would have the mind set to do that 600...nothing else changed. He needs speed so he is already maximizing for that requirement as he is...
 
box squats are easier on the knees than regular squats and encourages better form. Helps build power and explosion.
But box squats are also very hard/dangerous on the back if you make a mistake and compress your spine. Ask me how I know.
 
Forgive my ignorance on the benefits of this type of lifting. But what benefit is this for a LBer? It seems like an unnecessary strain on your back and knees.

I say this because recently I watched a Ronnie Coleman (body builder) video and it's said that power lifting/dead lifting and squatting stupid amounts of weight is what caused his back and other parts of his body to fail him.

I know he's an alpha and he does alpha things like this, but this worries me. Can someone educate me on this?
I agree, just imo , lifting heavy weights is stupid, puts too much pressure on tendons, joints muscles etc.
It is way better to do small weight for many reps and do sets of reps.

Big weights are to show off and can damage things like hamstrings? back, certain muscles etc.
 
Never accuse this kid of not taking care of business during the off-season............once his mental game catches up with his physical talent, no one can stop him.

Yes and no. They been talking about him gaining weight all off season so he might be trying to gain mass.
 
I love how they use those fat cross fit style weights to make the bar look full. It’s still a good set for someone that is trying to stay lean. We used to go the ground almost when we squatted. Probly why I have those herniated discs now. Lol.
 
I have skinny legs and can leg press 450 on leg machine. Not really that impressive. And 120lb side dumbbell rows. And I am 6 foot 182 lbs of solid muscle and 67 years old.
I could never grow those big tear drop shaped quads. Would do sets of squats with 600+ pounds and leg press 1000. Always had slender legs. Solid but slender. Then after 20+ years the injuries pile up. And am only 52.
