no talk, no opinions. Wow

I heard hes very good but who knows.
Earning all-USFL honors in 2022 and helping lead the Stallions to a USFL title in 2023. This past season, Aubrey converted on 14 of 15 field goals and all 35 PATs.

Pssh . Should of acquired Butker or Tucker.

It’s like they don’t even try.

Frankly, I'd still re-sign Maher. Any kicker who makes over 90 percent of his tries in the NFL should get an automatic ticket to camp no matter if they had a PAT meltdown.

I know Maher is still out there, but that doesn't mean he will be by the time we realize the kickers we have aren't good enough (if that happens). I'm all for contingencies.

Well I'm glad we did no sign Blewitt from the USFL. I can see it now a fg to get to the NFC Championship game, he Blewitt. I can imagine the jokes and memes.

Kidding aside I wonder why they passed on some of the other USFL kickers. Aguilar kicked 8 fgs in one game including a 55 game winner.

Aguilar had a great game, but he was not the top USFL kicker. Both Coghlin and Aubrey made more than 90 percent of their tries. Aguilar finished in the 80s.

Yeah he also had almost double the attempts also. These guys cant be making more than 50k in the USFL, sign accouple if needed. We will have at least one or two games that a long fg will win most likely win the game. Hell I thought we were set last year then what happened happened!

I like it. Many wanted us 2 draft a kicker but that almost never works. This is the way 2 go. He might latch on and be the Longterm guy. I also seen a rumor where we might sign Mason Crosby. I hate it. He looks washed.

Maher did on postseason extra points — he made just 1 of 6 in 2023

  • Cowboys' Brandon Aubrey: Joins Dallas after USFL stint

    Rotowire 5 HRS AGO
The Cowboys signed Aubrey on Thursday, ESPN's Todd Archer reports.
A former high school and college soccer star who played at Notre Dame, Aubrey was actually drafted into the MLS back in 2017. He was selected by Birmingham of the USFL in 2022 and was named an All-USFL kicker that year. In 2023, Aubrey made 14-of-15 field goals and all 35 of his extra points. In Dallas, Aubrey will compete with Tristan Vizcaino in a wide-open kicker battle this summer.

I would have been fine with signing Aguilar, too, but I preferred Coghlin and Aubrey for their averages. Sure, they didn't have near the attempts that Aguilar did, but they still hit all but one of the attempts they had. I can live with what I don't know over what I do know, and that's Aguilar kicks in the 80s.

Well, well. It looks like the Cowboys actually had a plan at kicker all along. They just needed him to finish his season first. 93% accuracy on field goals, and 100% accuracy on extra points.

SHOCKING!!

He will be sitting at the end of the bench,,, lonely, and as nervous as a hooker in church.

Let’s see what the kid can do.

28 years old already and didn’t kick in college. So it’ll be interesting to see him in the cold, on the road in the 4th quarter with the game on the line.
So. Only a projected 17 year career instead of a 23 year career. Is that what you’re saying?

I laugh at all the people who say “why didn’t we sign Gould!”

Well for one he cost money and this guy cost nearly nothing
He also is extremely limited at this point. Accurate but his leg can’t make long FGs or touchbacks.

That’s one of the things about Aubrey that is a bit confusing. In his two years, as accurate as he was, he didn’t have any makes over 50 yards so I’m not sure of his leg strength.

I guess we’ll find out in camp.

Aubrey was one of the guys on my Spring leagues list - there are a few others - so I'm glad to see him being brought to camp.

I'd rather have a guy I'm confident will make kicks from 50 in, than a scud missile who can hit from 60 but miss extra points.

I bet he's on the back burner yes Maher had a great season I agree I've said that since day one I'm on your side he has been a better kicker than Robbie gold the last two seasons he's about 90% average so yes Brett Maher had a meltdown mentally yet we don't know where he's at he should at least be brought in to the competition maybe when preseason starts order they have them out there ready to go if these two dudes don't look good in games.. For sure I don't understand why he's not part of the competition at least I wouldn't resign him I would let him compete show the coaches that he doesn't need the marker it's not in his head etcetera etcetera.

The contingencies are guys like Brett Maher but also Mason Crosby and Robbie Gould are still out there there's no need to hit the panic button give all the reps to the young guys see how it shakes out before game one these veterans are the type that you can just go grab the week of the game and they can just run out there and go it's not like they need to learn the playbook

Hopefully, he can be on point from 50 in and work on the distance stuff. It's the misses inside the 50 that kill you. Yes, the longer misses give the other team a shorter field, but the likelihood of connecting from 50-plus goes down for most kickers.
