Would you consider a Zack Martin for Chris Jones trade?

First, to be clear, from my perspective, it would be a trade WITHOUT either player getting new money. They would change teams under their current contract and work with their new team for an extension ( each team could get one year and let the player the walk) I know it's probably not doable but interestingly, there are a lot of parallels between both players
  • both are currently holding out
  • both players' teams are refusing to meet their demands
  • both players are at the backend of their careers but still playing at a high level
  • both players are All-Pros
  • both players would have an immediate impact
  • both players could play one year with the new team and walk or get their extension

The Cowboys have been "paper tigers" for 27 years. Player's need to play out their contracts and move on if that's their wish. We won 4 games last year with a 2nd string QB. Zack will either play or lose millions. That is Jerry's massive leverage.

No! more money at a position of lesser need. Martin is in his last stage of regular employment. Still, he is a top notch guard but, father time is knocking on the door.

. But it wouldn't solve the issue of Jones wanting huge money and wants a new deal. So with either player, there is a contract issue.
+1 ........this is true but I'm guessing both players will be highly ticked off if they are forced to play w/o an extension

You overrate Jerry's leverage because at the end of the day, Martin probably has banked more than enough to live and Jerry is known to panic after he overplays his hand.

Jones for Martin?

We have reached the summit of silliness. Have ascended beyond 29,000 feet and ran out of oxygen an hour ago. Zombie posting has commenced.

  • Hey...Let's talk a trade that is contractually impossible, due to financials. (End of discussion for thinking people)
  • How about we... talk a trade that castrates our offense and makes our defense 3% better?
  • Why not exchange one hold out for another hold out? Win-Win, Lose-Lose...who's keeping score?
Sôô Stüüüpid. Can someone remind me why I'm active on this forum?
