Would you consider a Zack Martin for Chris Jones trade?

The Cowboys have OL issues, it would be stupid to trade their best player on the OL for a defensive player who’s also unhappy with their current contract when we have plenty of defensive talent.

Nope, Martin to important to the Oline. Be like Dak on the ground every pass play if Martin gone.

I find it funny that a week ago everything was the nice depth we have at OL and the youth. Now we lose Chewy, maybe, a guy who may have made the team as a backup, and suddenly there’s major fear and anxiety about how thin we are on the OL.

We are only thin for the first preseason game. Tyron-Tyler-Biasach-Steele-Waletsco-and a horde of young guards. I’m not stressing at all.

Truthfully I agree. But if hindsight is 20, maybe drafting a guard/tackle again in rd 1 would have been a bit better. AS MUCH as I like Mazi.

People were actually claiming we have/had good depth on the OL?

I swear, you hear the strangest things on this site.

Jerry doesn’t need Martin more than Martin needs the Cowboys. And Jerry Jones is the Cowboys.
If he wants to win a SB he needs him but your right since Jerry doesn't care about winning anything important anyway. BYW nice to know there's a Jones family member here at the zone. :flagwave:

A worker with leverage over a billionaire. I can’t be mad at that. But I will be upset if we lose a game because he’s not there.

I’m not sure getting Jones and paying him is the answer. Actually, I’ll say it is not while also being very unlikely.
And what is wrong with a billionaire? Those guys should be looked up to, not rooted against. These are the people that move the world, employ the most people and are a shining example of what hard work can get you.

I find it hilarious that suddenly rich people are evil now. LOL

They are rich for a reason. And everyone that isnt is aspiring to be one.

Give me a smart, hard working rich person over a lazy excuse making, blame everyone else for your problems poor guy any day of the week.

First, to be clear, from my perspective, it would be a trade WITHOUT either player getting new money. They would change teams under their current contract and work with their new team for an extension ( each team could get one year and let the player the walk) I know it's probably not doable but interestingly, there are a lot of parallels between both players
  • both are currently holding out
  • both players' teams are refusing to meet their demands
  • both players are at the backend of their careers but still playing at a high level
  • both players are All-Pros
  • both players would have an immediate impact
  • both players could play one year with the new team and walk or get their extension

You 1000% make this trade and worry about what to do later.

This offense seems to collapse if a single important player is out. Look at what happened when a freaking RB was suspended.
That was a JG hallmark feature though. While I’m not a big MM fan, he is clearly vastly more capable of making adjustments to injuries

I agree trading away a player from a position of need to acquire at a position of strength does not make a lot of sense. And it would make a defense very dominant. But i can see Dallas losing lots of 14-10, 10-3, 20-10,17-14 games ...and add a questionable FG kicker to boot, no pun intended. A very shaky and porous OL will do that to you. Zack has been around a long time enough to know Jerry, and he knows Jerry will cave in just before the season and will even pay his fine for him.

So chill, like it or not, Zack ain't going nowhere. Jerry speaks with forked tongue.

YES. in a heartbeat. Chris jones would put this defensive line over the top. heck I would give up a first round pick for Jones. give them Gallimore and 1st. get jones and put him next to Mazi. Parsons and Lawrence at DEs, jones and Mazi in the middle. Osa and Hankins rotating. now you got the beginings of a dominant DL.

but KC has two good guards, so this will never happen.
