Would you consider a Zack Martin for Chris Jones trade?

The Cowboys have Martin, thats the thing..Martin's only option is to sit out and lose money and years and he isnt a spring chicken anymore, they will come to a restructure deal as neither has the time to play chicken in this deal.
We have no idea how Martin feels about football. He may just want to retire. He's made his money anyway.

Think of it as a thought experiment. Like when someone asks you which super model you would rather date. It has zero chance of happening, yet you answer anyway.
Probably a good way to go.

I shouldn't get worked up. I'm just an impatient, grouchy old man sometimes.

Same here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See, it wasn't that long ago that a person was expected to back up what they claimed, and to be respectful. That's all gone now, and people say just any old thing, logic is out the window.

The chiefs wouldn’t do this trade. Chris Jones is the heart of their defense which is not great to begin with. With no Chris Jones the chiefs‘ defense is average at best.

And while Chris Jones is a great player in any uniform, the mark of a good trade is how well it helps both teams. This proposed trade would not help either team that much.

Let’s take the fan glasses off for a minute. If we are being objective, the Cowboys OL without Zack Martin is not great. We can pretend all day long “we will be fine” at RG with any combo of Josh Ball, Matt Farniok, Chuma Erdoga or even TJ Bass. None of those guys are a great long term option.

So Jerry can talk tough all day long but again- just being honest here- Zack Martin has the leverage. All holdouts have a “public” stance and a “private” stance. I can almost guarantee Jerry is privately trying to negotiate a way to get ZM by game one. I’m predicting it will happen. Because the Cowboys need Martin if they are serious about contending.
Spot on…He will be there week 1 I’m sure. But then you hold your breath about possible injuries and no preseason. Working out on your own isn’t the same as camp

7 years ago and under Jason Garrett...... McCarthy has shown to be able to win, when important players go down.... You know like last year when Dak went down and Rush came in
That's what has kept him around. If not for that last year, he'd already be gone IMO.

At this point, Martin is under contract. If money is the issue, then he'd be really stupid to miss games, because that's when the money really starts to add up. If I were Martin, I would play this year and then renegotiate next year.. That would be a better time.

I suspect Farniok can fill in there some. He did pretty well last year. If we need to get really creative, there's always Jason Peters. That worked out last year. He still had game as far as strength, but I think he went out from fatigue late in that last game he played.

The way I see it, Zack Martin is being a sellout. He waits until we get great players, then whines about his contract, which at the time made him the highest paid the league. I get why some think that's OK. Because the Cowboys don't have to honor their contract. And that it's business. But you just had a nice year like that, and it holds back the team. Plus, you've already made how many millions?

That's what I mean by sellout.

I like Jones but it does nothing to fill the hole Martin leaves.
