I’m not shocked at all. One of the few players I didn’t mind holding out. He’s a skill player and a hard working, good character guy that is a future HOFer worthy of a reasonable raise that is fair for both parties.

I thought it would happen after this week's game, but getting it done this week allows him to be back on the field by next week's practices.

I don’t think it’s a surprise to anybody here that Martin’s contract would be re-worked. While I question Jerry’s football IQ I don’t think he is a proper idiot. Martin is a model Cowboy, a respected teammate and a premiere RG who has consistently performed at a high-level…a difference maker; those are the people you pay.

Sadly, I do think it's a surprise to some here. Don't know why, but there always have to be some who don't want the team to pay any player or buy into Jerry's song and dance despite prior evidence.

I would keep an eye on Justin Pughs health. Torn ACL in week 6, but reported he is healthy and ready to go.

Would be vet depth / starting potential at LG and RG.

He did,,, That worked out well and I'm sure that's how the Cowboys/Martin expected it to pan out. Zach gets a little extra cash to save face and gets a little paid vacation from TC,,, the Cowboys pony up a little more money but not a lot. The fans rejoice.

Yep. Love the player but business is business and deserving or not this just continues the precedent Zeke had already called Jerry's bluff on. This is discouraging that others will see that they too can hold out and Jerry will cave.

So is he deserving based on performance? Yes

Does this further illustrate that multi year contracts with the Dallas front office can be ignored, held out on or not honored as early as 2 years prior?

Unfortunately, yes.
A double edged sword in this case.
