Turpin is a valuable punt returner if he can avoid fumbles. The basic talent as a punt returner is the best the Cowboys have had in many years.

As a position player, he will likely never be anything more than a sparsely used gimmick guy

You’re living in the moment because of his fumble. I’m sure you weren’t calling him a little turd after the two touchdowns he scored on a punt return and KO last preseason. Mistakes happen but it they continue, he’ll fall out of favor with the team. Had he fumbled last preseason and not had those two big TD plays, he might not have made the team.

Since when is a 4.31 40 not "fast enough"? That's blazing.

And since when is the Big 12 weak? Sure, it's weaker than the SEC, but so is every conference.

The key is if he can hang onto the football and make good decisions. If he does that he has notable value as a PR.
