I’ve never seen Aikman do anything like Dak did in that Buccs game but he also didn’t have to. If Cowboys needed Aikman to score more I’m sure he could’ve. Talent was never an issue.
Dak in the wild card game versus a 8-9 Tampa team
25/33 305 yards 4 TDs

Aikman in the 1992 NFC Championship game against the 14-2 49ers

24/34 322 yards 2 TDs

Aikman the following game in the Super Bowl

22/30 273 yards 4 TDs

Did you watch Aikman play live during the Cowboys SB run?

I am growing tired of all these new Cowboy fans on the internet praising Dak and trying to discredit Aikman. Aikman is an absolute legend and watching him back in the day was an honor. I know some people here don’t like me and that’s fine but I think we can all agree that Aikman was a bonafide legend and had more guts than Dak ever had! Im old enough to remember the glory days of the Cowboys and I just want to see this team to return to their former glory. Call me a troll, I don’t care!!! I’ve even seen posts on here from people claiming Aikman wasn’t that good and he rode his team’s coattails. Aikman was a true Cowboy and one of my favorite Cowboys. They don’t make QBs like him anymore. Yeehaw!!
This isn't even a conversation.

You should absolutely ignore anyone who puts them in the same sentence.

This is about as dumb as it gets.
Dak Haters are in FULL panic Mode.

They are anticipating being Happy only 3-4 games this season and are praying Cooper Rush wins the job by playoffs week 2 :lmao: :lmao:

What the heck does Troy Aikman know!!! :lmao2: :lmao2: :lmao2:

It's NOT about Football...

Prescott WILL NEVER BE ACCEPTED by some fans even if Cowboys won the Super Bowl.
You keep saying this and I keep asking you and you never answer.

What is it, then?

I'm not sure that it would be close. Put him thru a good offseason program, then camp and he could start in todays NFL. Would easily be better than Dak.
I'm trying to be nice to the Dakies.
I'm turning over a new leaf, Dak will be self explanatory soon enough.

Um.......what? They're in completely different decades of play. Aikman is a legend. I have the upmost respect for Aikman (even if I didn't see him play until the 1999/2000 seasons).

The only reason I bring him up in conversations with Dak is because Aikman had a lethal team with him. He had a legendary coach in Jimmy. Dak had Garrett for a while. Big difference. I don't think people are trying to put down Aikman. I think, those of us who like Dak, are merely pointing out what Aikman had to work with compared to Dak. This is in NO WAY a knock on Aikman. It's just a comparison in teams. American Football is the ultimate team game, so it's fair to compare what Aikman and Dak have had to work with.

I give the nod to Staubach if we also include his impact of helping the Cowboys become America’s Team.

I wish Staubach and the Cowboys would have defeated the Steelers in the Super Bowls.

And Aikman played against lethal teams too… like the 14-2 49ers.

The 49ers were the team of the 1980s.

Watch the intro for the 1992 NFC Championship game

Aikman also played against HOF QBs in the playoffs: Young, Favre, and Kelly.

Dak and the Cowboys lost to the Brock Purdy led 49ers.

Aikman was so good he lifted the play of others around him. Dak has to be carried. The difference is night and day no matter when they played or who they played with.

Aikman also had to survive the growth of the team. He came to a very bad team which had a revolving door roster while it was being built.

He had to get over the Philly hump, with that killer defense and an absolute hatred for the Cowboys. Remember the 11 sack game in 91? Sacked 11 times and hit countless times, in an era where a rusher could follow through on the hit if they were within a step.

Dak has had a much easier road than Aikman, especially when you factor in the parity of today's watered down NFL.

Aikman's later years struggles were as much a result of the beatings he took (Concussions and back injuries) and the dramatic culture shift the loss of Johnson and supreme arrogance of Jones brought to the team.

You can point to a specific season and say Aikman had more to work with but overall career wise, I'm not buying it. Dak has had it pretty damn good and has not capitalized on what he has had to near the extent Aikman did with what he had.

That is not true. Aikman did nothing after the 3rd SB when the great players started to leave.

Even with Emmitt and Irvin still on the team, he never elevated another team to win anything. By the end of his career he had as near as many TDs as interceptions. Aikman was good on a good team, and is in the HOF because of that. But when the talent left he was average at best.
