QB success and team success are somewhat intertwined

There is no
Loss I have pinned on Dak solely but I’m each game he has played progressively worse against San Fran and that’s not watching the second half of that Sunday night abortion

You mentioned playoff success and I’m saying other guy didn’t have anymore success but it wasn’t his fault completely either

I think the whole "we could do a whole lot worse than Dak" notion was more true a few years ago than now. That notion was based on having a QB you could in the long term build a championship team around while the players around him were still in their primes. But there are a few things to consider here. Is Dak at the sunset of his career much in the same way you could say Zeke is? I certainly don't see the same player that people say was a good but not elite player. Romo at the sunset of his career, well his body gave out on him and you didn't know if you could go through a season with him uninjured. Dak at the sunset of his career has lost a step and is slow, when he gets in trouble in the pocket, he's not going anywhere and will get sacked because he doesn't have a quick release and would in the past use his mobility to get him out of trouble there. People are saying they want to see Dak run more like he did a bit in our last game, but I don't think except for a few players that is his M.O. anymore. Then add on to that, that you have his extension coming up. Are you willing to extend Dak? Is that the smart thing to do for the future of the team. You certainly don't cut Dak now, but you also certainly don't extend him either. You have to look for a replacement at some. And while I don't have much faith in Jerrah and company doing this, the Eagles had a similar contract issue with Wentz and they have moved on and gotten Hurts. LA has moved on from Goff which probably was beneficial in the long run to both sides. I mean look at all the players people think are better than Dak now at this stage off his career, some people think even Kirk Cousins is a better player now than Dak. Is Dak at this stage of his career closer to the middle of the pack of the NFL than edging in on the Top 10? If you know that Dak isn't going to get you anywhere in the playoffs, is it worth it to keep the status quo or is it time to try you luck elsewhere?

Even a lesser QB who’s not a big step down from Dak could cause this team to routinely miss the playoffs. I know we won 4 straight games last season with Cooper Rush, but our defense was playing lights out, especially our pass rush. This year our defense started off like gangbusters ranked number one overall the first couple of weeks but has dropped to number eight. We need efficient QB play to win games. Although Dak has regressed the past few seasons,, he’s still a lot better than some fans give him credit for. If the Cowboys are going to win another championship, they’re going to have to do better than him at QB and maybe a lot better and that’s not going to be easy. We’re going to need a QB that’s going to be able to overcome some of the deficiencies the team has every season which is going to be a challenge to find. If we take too big a step down at QB we’re going to end up like Washington.

In a black or white poll like this I’ll say yes.

Is Dak 1 of the 5 or so human beings on earth that give their team a great chance at a SB every year? Nope. But is he in the next group of 5 or 6 that is still a very good QB? Yeah I think so. When you also also factor in that the alternative is tank for minimum a year and then at least another 2 years of growing pains while crossing your fingers and praying they took the right guy…yeah a firm no is a hard choice if you’re being realistic and don’t have an obvious bias

Not to mention that I will forever be a lot more worried about the Cowboys GM. That guy and his son will always be the real problem.

maybe that 3rd stringer can develop?...i mean SF paid 3 1st for him?...then mr irrelevant the very last pick of 7th

round Purdy playing like Montana...go figure?????.....all 32 teams missed on him including SF...i mean last pick

extending Dak unless he takes pay cut...its outrageous what QB's make compared to RB's who usually

out his contract keeping Pollard not much difference overall except saving 10's of millions?....the greatest

running back of all time was Barry Sanders...10 years averaged 1500 yds a year....left still in his prime

imagine if he would have had Dallas's line to run behind? instead of Detroit?.....he was not one bit slower

10th year as rookie year....Zeke 4th pick made big bucks and then 70 million extension...Zeke cleaned up

even if he did not get ever penny of the 70 million...he is doing fine

Dak more accurate now then before and his footwork and throwing motion better although still takes him long

time to set up and release?

The first 3 years of Daks career I would’ve definitely said yes, assuming he was still growing and that he came in playing at a relatively high level day 1.

Years 4-6 I might have still said yes, citing injuries and setbacks and receiving core.

As of last year I made up my mind. No. And I think I really knew by year 4, but was waiting to see if other factors were hurting him. He has low mobility and he needs that to be the best qb he can be. Now I think not only has he reached his ceiling but the ceiling lowers slightly every year bc of degrading mobility.
