Dak is upper-half on the talent scale. Cowboys can win games with Dak, but he’s unlikely to carry the team by creating ‘Did you see THAT?’-type plays. He’s a pretty good bus driver. And when your starting QB is a bus driver - you need to be making a plan, and working a plan, to replace him.
Prescott to me is no bus driver and especially not a good one.
He is more of a showstopper and is very good at it.
No, you cant win with him. You may be able to win some games with him, but you cant actually win with him.
Of course when you are statisfied with a medicore team then you will always be hard pressed to make changes. But if you are interressted in winning something meaningful then - of course - you dont wait for someone who works out a plan that takes away all of possible risks.
Because this is what your whole argumention is based on: We need a working plan to replace him. No we dont need that and it is also wrong. Because football is not physics, were you find laws. And with those are able to forcast processes. Changing something in football is always a risk. Finding a new QB is a risk. So your approach should be to minimize that risk. Not trying to negate it.
One approach would be to draft a new QB every third year. Think about that idea: Investing something in the by far most important position in that sport!
But we dont invest into that position. And now posts like yours come up that feels like it tries to explain why we dont do exacly that.
