Cowboys PFF Offensive Grades - Season To Date

That's fine if it's your system but the mathematical and statistical definitions disagree with you. My standard has always been the top 10% is elite.. so 3.5 out of 35.. round it to 4.. Anything in the upper 20% would have to be considered at "very good." So that's the top 7 or 8. Currently this system has Dak graded around the top 30%. Which I would consider above average to good. And we all know that ranking is being dragged down by one game. If he strings together a couple more games like his last one he will likely climb into that top 7 o r 8 realm which frankly is about where he belongs. Not creme of the crop but certainly above most of his peers. Time will tell.. THAT's why the play the games!
Agree to disagree i guess

It will sort itself out as the season progresses. Dak will either play at or near the level he has played at most of his career or he will revert to chump we saw against the 49ers. My money's on the former.

You're either a top 10 QB or your average at best. Let's visit this again at seasons end.

Well wecant take awag any game. Lets hope the next game evens it out.

I was thinking 11 isnt so far away from average that that guy shouldnt get too much ridicule? Only a few spots away from center. And seemingly out of top 10 for now.

I also need to check how far the stats are not just rank.

And yes....i can do basic math average...but its not a single number, its a range. How big of one is what i was getting at.
I understand what you mean now and if I came across as insulting or sarcastic I apologize.

PFF's stats are confusing to me but if Dak is top eleven in their metrics I think that puts him right about where he should be- slightly above average. My other point is, if we forget his three late picks against the 49ers when that game was already lost anyway, I wonder how much higher than eleventh he would place.

But once again, it's PFF so it should be taken with a grain of salt.

No problem my good man. I probably could have phrased myself better.

I think stats and ranking in general are a grain of salt. I mean...I like to sprinkle salt but I don't overload on everything either.

I still need to do my diligence and see how far off the stats are...off the mean. If there's 3 ints and 200 yards difference from #15 or 16....well...dak might be "average".

If he's 2-3 tds and 200 yards from #5...well...he might be above average. Or at least in that subset!

So stats can lie...or at least smudge anyway.

I have a feeling most people don't really know statistical analyses very well. Whatever stats seems to bolster our opinion and how hard can we bludgeon someone with it.

I usually just like to watch football not argue what a stat actually really means and it's context.

Well then, why insult me with the "must not know how to do math" comment?

If you're categorizing all the teams' QBs into two equal sets, Dak would be in the "good" set. If you use three equal sets, then Dak would be on the cusp of "average" and "good". If you do any more than three, Dak falls into "above average".

How's my math?
Well...sorry. I seem to have lost track of the math insults. i guess we are all making assumptions here.

Sucks to see how bad Steele has regressed. Let's hope it's just a short-lived effect from his injury that he hasn't overcome quite yet.

Ok forum family....for me I watch NFL football and it seems the intangibles of the game is preparation, game planning and execution which we clearly do not posses. I am so jealous of these other coaching staffs that adhere to this basic fundamental guides to be successful. We deserve better as well as the players on this team.

Terrence Steele and Michael Gallup have to be the most disappointing numbers out of the bunch. Pollard as well.

Tyler Smith is doing alright for a guard who's wearing #73 and shouldn't even be in the league.
Torn ACLs will do that.

True but Gallup should be over it now. This is just what Gallup is. I'm now questioning how good was Gallup to begin with because technically he's only had one good solid year under his belt. I personally never been a Steele fan not that he's bad I just didn't think he was good enough to warrant retaining.

Gallup is decent....good sideline catches put him on the map. Steele will be fine....need to improve his lower body strength. I had a friend play for the Bears for years and he didn't have ACLs in either leg, but he could squat close to 800 pounds

With Steele...he's never been great in pass protection. Also has the luxury of playing next to Zack Martin.

The O-line hasn't been good. They should have drafted Torrence instead of Schoonmaker. Played Torrence at LG, Tyler at LT and Tyron at RT. Steele should have been kept as the back up swing tackle until needed when Tyron gets hurt. It's hard, very hard to come back and be at your very best after such knee injuries.

You don't want to be anywhere near the bottom of that list.

I agree the TE play has been rather underwhelming. That's a bitter disappointment but they are very young so I hope they improve at an impressive rate and quick enough to be a factor in any playoffs.

Schoonmaker is just too old to be faceplanting like that. He doesn't have time to learn.

Speaking of age, WOW at Tyler Smith's breakout at 22. He is the same age as Titans rookie Peter Skoronski, and he's flattening the best players in the world. It's exciting to see where he could go from here... he's just starting to harness that outlier power, and the sky is the limit.

Vaughn was a publicity pick
Schoonmaker was a wasted pick.
Gallup needs to go

Pollard & Cooks being used entirely wrong.

Hopefully steele snaps out of it.
I wish I could find a way to disagree with a persuasive argument based on statistical information and other facts. All I can say is let's give the two rookies a little more time. I'm still hoping Gallup can recover some consistency

I don't entirely agree with everything you are saying but I completely understand why you could come to those conclusions.
