Better To Bite The Bullet Than Extend Dak

With quarterback salaries expected to reach $60 million, the Cowboys are in no real rush to extend Dak.
He's never won anything, and hasn't proven that he can show up in big games. Instead, he has struggled every time the Cowboys needed him to be the reason they were able to get to the next level.
With a $59 million cap hit coming, the Cowboys will be better off to ride it out and demand that Dak earn his next extension.
He hasn't yet.
Dak should be sent packing if he cannot at least get to the nfc championship. No excuses this time. We cannot get hamstrung by a qb that has no ability to win the big ones. Dak does not win the biggest games this year Adios amigo.

Most people don't because they don't pay close attention. Remember, market rate is different at every other position. Only at the quarterback position can players demand top market rate even though they are not worth top market value. You can't do that at any other position.
It's crazy to me that fans try to justify paying "market rate" for items that aren't "market rate" worthy.

Would you pay the mansion price for a trailer just because it's in the same neighborhood?

Dude, I agree with you. I am 100% on your side in this. I wouldn't have given Dak the contract he has now. I'm on record saying that. It's pretty much extortion. It doesn't apply to any other position. But what are the alternatives? Many owners just give in.

What impetus does Jerry have to let Dak go? Dallas fans are their own worst enemy. You all complain yet you come back for more every year. I would not change anything if I was Jerry either.

Dealing with suckers with no leverage. He's gonna get paid either way because of fan addiction to mediocrity.

If they're 9 years in and still failing I'm letting them walk.

9 chances is enough.
I would pay a Tony Romo or Matt Stafford. Even though they are not elite. Because as a GM it's my job to put the team around them. They're good enough.

It's a good thing I'm not a GM because I don't like to get extorted. I would never pay someone money they don't deserve because I have no other option. I just wouldn't. It's like the new car market. I consider it an insult to be asked to pay a market adjustment. I'm not paying that.

Here's a quick metaphor for those who don't have the mental capacity to understand basic market rate. Take a 1100 square foot, entry level home in downtown Los Angeles. You're going to pay $1,000,000 for it.

Is it worth that? Hell no! But you can gripe, moan, and complain all you want about it but that is the going rate in that market. The QB market is the California of all positions in the N.F.L. You can't compare it's market value to other positions. To change that, ALL owners would have to agree to stop paying over inflated contracts which would reset the market.

Well, another metaphor. I would not buy that 1100 square foot home and find one about 800 SQFT so I could afford nicer furniture to live with. If I buy that 1100 SqFt home, I would have to sleep on the floor!

Are you forced to live in LA and pay that or are you allowed to move on and find a better value?

You're making it sound like organizations are forced to pay market rate for non market rate items.

There are very few, maybe 6, market rate talents at the QB position. I'm only paying the market rate for 1 of those 6 QBs. If I don't have 1 of those 6 then I'm continuing the search.

Dak took a 4 year deal for a reason. He's planning on getting paid again. I wish that wasnt the case, but it looks like that's how it will go. There will be no discount.
Most did not understand why that was so important to him and his dogs, most did not understand the benefit of the "term".

They're going to do it, so it is what it is.

So that means 4-5 more years of what we just watched these past 8.

It's made this team boring and so predictable.

I think a lot of players will be looking to leave here for brighter pastures.

There are still people who think the QB is responsible for all failures.

It’s the “market rate” if someone is willing to pay that amount of money. Prescott will sign for north of $55 million per season with Dallas or some other team. It’s Jerry Jones’ decision if Dak Prescott remains with the Cowboys.

Jerry has generated a fan base with pockets full of money enjoying most of the season while BBQn in the back yard while watching the game and spending mad cash on mercandise.

I'm letting someone else pay the mansion price for the double wide if I'm Jerry.

Yep, it would be the final nail in the coffin and the Cowboys will go from America's team to America's Toilet.

A large chunk of the fan base will sour big time as we are not all Jerry Kool-Aid drinkers.
