Was that the right call at the end?

Dan Campbell is like a kid playing Madden. Going for it on 4th all the time, and of course he was going for 2 down 1 and not only that tried to outsmart us but instead outsmarted his own team.

Were we fortunate? Yes, but so were other teams many times when we screwed up at the end. A win is a win.
Tbh Dallas should've put this game to rest at half time.

I’m sure the lions are saying the same thing after blowing that play call. And throwing two picks.
...which is why it's likely that neither of these teams make a Superbowl appearance. It will be hard for both to overcome questionable coaching and untimely mistakes.

Detroit and all analyst are cry babys.... reverse this with DC and it would be a different story .....nuff said. Cry baby's.

Wait, I thought there was a league wide referees conspiracy to screw the cowboys?

In Dan Cambell's press conference he says 2 people can not report. Why was 70 running up to the referee?

It is obvious that Dan wanted 68 reported as illegible. If he was not reported, then it is an illegal formation, because he was not covered.

70 was announced and he was covered by 58, which is also an illegal formation.

Sounds like the lineman and the referees mis communicated. Lions got too cute sending 3 lineman to the Ref.

No it wasn't....it was the refs fault. Don't buy the NFL back peddling. This was the same dope that botched the Chiefs/Dolphins fiasco.
No it was Dan's fault for not knowing the rules. You can not have 2 eligible WR's.

Dan outsmarted himself.

Whole thing just underscores that nobody knows what the rules are. ESPN, NFL, etc. You had multiple mentioned penalties during the broadcast and then postgame barely talked about them.

Ryan Clark did a good breakdown and didn’t mention much other than the wrong player being designated as eligible.

Basically the NFL and all the experts know little more than people posting here. Lots of various takes but it seems like a fundamental screw up by the official for declaring the wrong guy eligible.

The ref clearly was looking at #70 as he was going in and do did the entire defense. Which means that the ref was focused on only #70.

It's up to #68 to get the refs attention that this was a trick play and that he was reporting. He failed at that. Thus I don't see why the Lions are crying. They should be blaming themselves for their bad communication skills.

If the ref screwed up why was he looking entirely at #70? #68 was closer to the ref and yet didn't get the ref's attention. It seems that #68 didn't speak loud enough or even tried to attempt to communicate the play to the ref. Either way, it was still not called out in the speakers and #70 was. Detroit had all the time in the world to call time and fix the situation.
