The cult of Romo is just strong in this thread. I don't get it. After those play-in game losses I was so done with Romo. He wasn't even trying to beat championship teams to get in. Everytime he played in a playoff game I never had any expectation that he would win. I know outside of Cowboy nation he's a big joke. The guy was a good QB but very flawed. I mean I might put him ahead of Dak but it wouldn't be by much. I think Romo got better in the playoffs as he got older and Dak's gotten worse. Romo's best season IMO was 2014 and that's after we committed to the run with Murray. Murray was the real MVP of that season but of course Cowboy fans gave it all to Romo. And of course after Murray left and some thought any old RB could do it then Romo got hurt trying to do everything again. Maybe if Dak had a quality running game he would play better too. Don't know. All I know is that lately he has that deer in the headline look so I'm done with him. Time to move on and hope the next QB is better. It won't be. This team won't win anything as long as Jerry is in charge. He's the real culprit in all this. We have to have an elite QB to have any shot and we haven't had one since the bus driver Aikman.
On point. I have no faith in Dak as well. By now, he is who he is. Like Romo, a good QB who can't get you over the hump.

Dude really? You got like three lies in the first few sentences. He most certainly is not a "joke" outside of cowboys. In fact it's the opposite.

These are NOT all Cowboys fans commenting here:

You want to call Romo a choker but him putting the team on his back is why they had a chance to begin with. THE TEAM...always found a way to lose it....only rarely Romo's fault. Check DFWJC...and tell me that was Romo ****** it up. If we had a defense Romo would have had an epic win against Peyton's Broncos. Went back out time and time again...until finally the numbers caught up with him.

I'm not too sure about playoffs....but I do remember staying up late MANY a Sundays and Monday....because I always believed there was a chance with Romo. He was ALWAYS gonna try. But of course sometimes you fail.

People like you remember ONLY those.

You were delusional then. Because how many failures did it take did you to see Romo was a choker? Do you see it with Dak or do you need 13 seasons to see it to?

Annual reminder of what should have been the game-winning pass with 17 seconds left vs eventual Super Bowl Champ Giants

That was not a choke by the QB. That was a clutch drive and clutch throw in clutch time with a bad result

2007

So you just going to pick one play of the whole game to make a weak point to defend Romo. What about over his carreer in Dallas. Moreover, he only scored 17 points in this game. Why???

Dak is almost mirror image of Romo. On that the article is true. Matt Ryan had a similar career before producing the all-time Super Bowl collapse against the Patriots.

Peyton Manning had a close career path too. Easily forgotten. HOWEVER, Manning did make it to an AFC Conference Championship in his 4th season after 3 season of Wild card or Division choke jobs. Adding his Tennessee career, probably best story of someone rebounding from a choker tag to winner greatness.

I don't include guys like Elway and Steve Young who battled it out in quite a few Super Bowls or Conference Championships before getting the monkey off their back. Or even Marino who went to SBs early and never could get back. Dak still isn't in their league.
Not really, different players, coaches, and times. Romo had no defense whatsoever. The offense went through a total rebuild of the Oline. IF Romo got the ball with 2 minutes left in the game, you believed he would score. Do you get that feeling now? In the "that was a catch" Dez game in GB, it would not have mattered if Dez did catch it for a TD. Rodgers went right down the field in 10 to 15 yard chunks, scored, and won anyways. That was the defense Romo had to carry for much of his time.

I was starting to get that feeling Dak had turned the corner this year, but then Philly San Fran, Buffalo, Miami, Detroit all playoff caliber teams and he could not get a win. I'm not counting Detroit as a win because in reality, they lost that game.

It shouldn’t have taken a clutch throw or catch to beat the Giants. It shouldn’t take a bomb to Dez to beat the Packers. This is why we fall flat. We are always the one failing at the end of games regardless of who the QB is.

Romo had a few years with bad defense and bad offensive line play. But make no mistake 2007 and 2014 was not about bad defense or bad offensive line play.

But see. This demonstrates the blind hate for Dak vs Romo. Both are chokers.
Both sides can’t make a fitting argument to say neither is a choker. Romo is 2-4 in his whole career. 6 playoff games at the age of 34 is embarrassing and I’m embarrassed for anyone who doesn’t see that.

Dallas was the underdog at Green Bay and the Dez incompletion was the only incompletion the entire 2nd half.

Where did I say Romo played bad lol? I’m saying the opposite….we should’ve won if you are the one telling me we were underdogs..Romo played out of his mind that year he was very good.

The difference between Romo and Prescot may not be the playoff games or playoff victories, but Tony for the most part excelled during regular season games against the league's best competition. When Tony faced the beast in the league you knew the Cowboys had a great chance to win those game, whereas Prescot goes MIA in those types of games. This season is a great example of Prescot nutting up against some of the league's best teams. As much as we want Prescot to succeed, it's apparent that he doesn't have the ability to raise his game to the next level. Those 400 hundred against came by way of a GB soft prevent defense because of the Prescot aided lead GB had on the Boys.
Thank you. Ive been saying this for years.

Beating the Peyton Manning-led undefeated Colts, the Drew Brees-led undefeated Saints, the Legion of Boom, the Jim Harbaugh-led Niners.

Dak doesnt win those type of games. Ever

I dont know why any of you waste your time arguing with @TheMarathonContinues

He was one of the biggest Romo homers on this board. He thought his name change would have people forget
I was a Romo homer I stand on it. I can’t lie to y’all and say he not a choker. I’m a Dak homer too. I can’t lie and say he ain’t choking. I don’t lie based on allegiance or who I like. I leave that to y’all.

I say it time and time again though. I defend Lamb it’s no problem. I defend Micah it’s no prodblem. Romo? Y’all love it. Dak? It’s a problem lol.

Yep. If you look at their performances you see overall Romo's performances helped the team and Dak's let the team down. Dak primarliy has had better teams and much much better defenses. Romo did play on some good teams, but he elevated his teams. All you have to look at is the teams records with Romo out (4-12 and 3-13) vs with Dak out (5-1).
And the year the team went 4-12, Romo was the QB for three of those wins prior to his season-ending injury in the 4th game of the season. The rest of the team was so good - as I keep hearing how he had all this great talent around him - they only mustered one more victory over the remaining 12 games.

I would post the numbers that show Romo isn't. But you don't care about facts. That...is true delusion.
