It’s Mike Fisher but interesting comment from another NFL owner.

FRISCO - Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones vows that his organization is "all in'' toward trying to win big in 2024. And he has at least one high-powered and high-profile colleague who believes him - at least when it comes to Dallas' search for a new defensive coordinator to replace Dan Quinn.

"Watch him,'' a fellow NFL owner tells CowboysSI.com on the condition of anonymity. "Jerry wants a home-run hire. He's swinging for the fences here.''

Here is the problem:
Jerry has underwhelmed us so much with his talk and actions, that it is really difficult to expect anything stupendous from him.
I am in a wait and see posture at this point.
Don't tell me, show me...

Quinn was the right guy at the time, but I think his "player's coach" style might have lost momentum with the Cowboys defensive players.

I would say that the new defensive coordinator , would be someone who would be promised the head coaching position .So look for a coach who could takeover for McCarthy if things go south for Dallas in 2024.
Said this in a couple other threads
Hire a strong HC as DC with a handshake deal to become HC in 2025.
It's very undermining and dysfunctional.
But I could see it happening.

So Jerry is telling other owners his big plans? I guess this would be par for the course with this imbecile.

BB is the only one considered a home run if Jerry is in fact swinging for the fences. There are definitely some solid options available who would be more like a standup double!

So, just to add to all I've already asserted that debunks this... I have to thank you for helping that effort when you yourself say...

It's very undermining
You want to win in 2024?

Then, of course... hire someone who has incentive to want to lose out of self-interest.

Nah.

Jerry loves keeping his options open. This time and every time. The most he'd do is tell a new guy in so many words, "do a good job, and we'll have to consider you if we change course later."

Maybe its big splash mullet man Steve Belichick
I don’t know much about him or his defensive philosophy. Is he still under contract? Would this be a good hire? What would we expect out of him? I’m being genuine in my questions, I really don’t have any idea.

I tend to almost agree with this.

But hard to imagine BB and his agent would take a DC job instead of just biding his time and waiting for a ripe opportunity.

Almost agree.

I think Pete Carroll would be considered one, as well. He has the defensive pedigree that Rivera has, but his teams have over-performed expectations for the most part these last couple of seasons. He still has a spark in his giddy-up that it's not as obvious that Rivera still has.

Don't believe anything Jerry says. He's just trying to get some support back by making BS promises he never intends to keep.
Anything said after multiple shots of Johnny Walker Blue or cheapo 7-11 wine should be discounted and in one ear and out the other.

He has a interview with the U of Washington for a place on their staff.

There is no hire good enough without Dallas adding new talent to the roster and then Jerry must remove himself as the GM. Those two factors would be going all in.

with you on the "wait and see" thing, john. Jerruh talks so dadgum much and rarely backs it up, so a lot of us have low or minimal expectations forward.
The organization's dynamics and approach is so messed up, the "Titanic deck chairs" metaphor isn't amusing anymore.
