So, just to add to all I've already asserted that debunks this... I have to thank you for helping that effort when you yourself say...

You want to win in 2024?

Then, of course... hire someone who has incentive to want to lose out of self-interest.

Nah.

Jerry loves keeping his options open. This time and every time. The most he'd do is tell a new guy in so many words, "do a good job, and we'll have to consider you if we change course later."
Not saying I want this to happen.
But with the crazy way our front office operates, I would not rule it out.

I wanted Marvin Lewis over McCarthy
I was scared of Marvin Lewis. Granted, who knows how much Mikey Boy Brown in Cincy held him back. But that was a helluvalotta seasons to coach a team with practically zero to show for it. If nothing else, I was down on Lewis for being content to remain in that football purgatory for that long. Should have given Brown an ultimatum to hire a real GM and give up control of roster decisions or else I'm leaving. That would have been a sign of a man with integrity and backbone.

But for DC? Can't help but be intrigued.

That's actually a reason to think it's very plausible.

Loved to hate him as Bengals' HC, but absolutely can imagine him as an excellent choice for this assignment.

Thanks for the thought... I'd recalled John Fox as a same kind-of candidate, but I like your idea better.

Wasn't Marvin a dark horse candidate for head coach until McCarthy's interview back when? I think so. There's some regard held for him in The Star, I'm sure.

This is the most empty insult and yet the most repeated... so tedious.

You might rule out a guy on the basis that you don't think he has the same energy and motivation that he did earlier in his career. But argue that. That. And provide your reason/evidence for that conclusion.

It's amazing to have to say it. But I have and will. Having long-time NFL experience is not a negative, but a positive.
Unless that experience is being repeatedly fired.

It’s Mike Fisher but interesting comment from another NFL owner.

FRISCO - Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones vows that his organization is "all in'' toward trying to win big in 2024. And he has at least one high-powered and high-profile colleague who believes him - at least when it comes to Dallas' search for a new defensive coordinator to replace Dan Quinn.

"Watch him,'' a fellow NFL owner tells CowboysSI.com on the condition of anonymity. "Jerry wants a home-run hire. He's swinging for the fences here.''

Most likely it will be Zimmer.

I smell a Jerry Jones fed story to his pet media hack Mike Fisher. Sound like the things those two birds would try.
