Didn't read the entire thread so if it's been stated, apologies.
Also, please don't crucify me for giving my opinion... LOL
Don't claim to be a football GM, but common sense tells me it seems that delaying the inevitable doesn't accomplish anything, particularly if you know what you are planning to do (I'm guessing planning is a part of the job running a football team).
Over the last decade, I've come to admire what Roseman has done with our rivals. It seems that they have a plan, and if that plan isn't working out, they rip the bandaid off, cut their losses and move on. You would think sooner or later it would catch up to you, but so far it hasn't with them. I mean after the dumpster fire with Wentz, they still made it to the SB and then they end up letting the coach go a couple of years later.
I have no clue how our rival plays their their own money, but it's been mentioned here before that for whatever reason, it seems like Dallas doesn't play with their salary cap and arrange contracts like other teams do to actually go out and spend money on multiple players that you believe will improve the team.
I understand that if you get highly paid prima donnas that you run the risk of friction within the team, but sometimes a little friction can be a good thing. One reason why I'll always admire Aikmannot only for his play is that one video of him going off on the sidelines basically stating that no one has any balls to win.
There seems to be a low level cloud of dsyfuntion on the cowboys team that always enables the team to shoot itself in the foot over the last couple of decades.
In some aspects I can appreciate Jerry's sense of loyalty (what it appears to be) to his team and players, but at the end of the day, the game is a business and nothing more. Jason Garret being a prime example of a coach that stayed with the team way to long IMO.
The Jone's HAVE to have a plan with Dak, but I don't think anyone can claim to know at this point whats inside Jerry's mind.
That said, one could argue with where Dallas has been in the standings over the 3 years has been darn good. Out of curiosity, one could argue Jerry's "meathod" works as over the last 7 years since the dumpster fire of Wentz, as both Rosemans team and Jerry's team has almost identical records.
