Please provide a link to that podcast or at least the name of the podcast..
I can't remember. It was posted on this board around week 12 or 13. I tried to Google it but couldn't find it. I actually did listen to it though, because it was quite enjoyable watching them implode. It's bad too, real bad. Of course now it doesn't matter, cause we suck just fine in our own right.

I just read that Josh Sweat has restructured his contract despite higher offers from other teams? Something isn't right. We can't afford players and Howie signs whoever he wants?

They eagles trade players, lowering their cap. The eagles restructure and kick the can down the road. It will eventually catch up, unless they continue to keep trading players away.

You can manipulate the cap all day long, but eventually the final balloon payment will come due...

Eagles just signed Oren Burks, mostly a rotation player, away from the 49ers. Not sure how good he is, but he started in the Super Bowl.

If you look at their roster and numbers, you see almost all their vets have salaries of 1.2 mil. Go down their list, Hurts, Brown, Johnson, Goedert Sweat, etc. All those deals were reworked to free up max space. We have only done that with Zach so far.
Between reworking deals to squeeze as much space as possible, and signing CeeDee long term and releasing Gallup, we could get to about 60-70 Mil in space if we did every deal. The Eagles have just gone all in, reworked every deal. We have not. There is a price to pay down the road, but this is the game the NFL off season has become.

Not very…it is by far the weakest position group on the team. And Howie will never draft a LB in the first (this year’s 1st is likely to be an OT).

Maybe they can get a guy like Trotter Jr later in the draft…but the position group will likely remain weak

Every team has the ability to find cap room. But I think Stevie lacks the will. Plus, he's just not very creative. Arrogant as all get out.
oh he doesn't want to do it, he is creative, just daddy said no more burning my $$ for a wild card loss

they count on the cap going up over the years and never having to pay the piper so to speak

How? its because they are only in second year of new contract handed to Hurts. We were in similar boat first couple of years, knowing we are going to get to this point. so they are making the same bets, that Hurts will continue to be what they want and that they can continue to restructure. If Dallas had plans to keep Dak for another few years, his contract would be re-done and we would have ample cap room. Its clear they have made the decision that this is last year of Dak's contract. they are minimizing the dead cap for upcoming years. My inclination is that they will roll with Lance in 2025, with the plan to also draft one.

They have to believe that Dak's contract is the one holding back Stephen and Jerry from going all in or being more active in free agency. And want to believe that Stephen actually wishes for the capability of being more active in free agency but can't only because of Dak. If they have to come to the realization that Stephen still isn't going to ever plan on being more active or closer to what Howie Roseman does in free agency, even in the scenario of the front office being able to get out of Dak's contract and move on to a rookie QB on a cheaper deal, then that will be very discouraging to them as Cowboys fans.

Because then this fanbase would see how Stephen and Jerry are determined to win a Super Bowl there way, even if going about it their way has resulted in decades of failed attempts. So the only two options Cowboys fans will have to look forward to under the Jones family.

Is there either being a QB in the near future who is gifted and skilled enough to overcome not getting any extra help or effort from Stephen in free agency. And gifted enough to be able to overcome Jerry being determined to win a championship his way and through only his way.

Or either having to witness close to another decade or more of the Cowboys Super Bowl drought continuing for as long as the Jones family owns this team, refuses to change how they run this franchise and gets fans to believe that their hands are tied when it comes to them being willing to take certain steps and make certain moves in order to give this franchise the best chance at succeeding.

100%.. you have to have one hell of a set of blinders to think 1996-2015 were good years....

They are better at the cap than us
And their QB isn't taking 60 million of it
so they're better at the cap than us and yet we beat them for the division two out of the last three years...hmmm

everyone say it's no big deal but you're giving them all the credit for being able to maneuver the cap, spend more money on bigger names ,and yet still barely competing side by side with us, I mean Jerry sure doing a good job not knowing what he's doing and somehow competing with the Eagles...

I mean how do we beat them two years out of the last three for the division if they're so much better than us I mean it seems like there's so much better that's what you guys are saying, I mean you want to give props to them without mentioning the fact that the Cowboys are also winning a lot of games and beating the Eagles for the division....irony

We've been saying this about Philly since they won that SB. They find ways to manipulate the cap to their advantage. Roseman counts on the cap going up and up and thus far, it's not really hurt them. Maybe it eventually will but the reality is they continue to churn the roster, continue to use every method of player acquisition at their disposal and are not satisfied with their roster.

We are the exact opposite.

They've been in two SBs in the last 6 years, winning one. And they went back to the SB a few years AFTER tearing down the SB winning team and basically churning a huge chunk of the roster (including somehow getting out from under a massive QB contract).

We haven't sniffed a conference title game in 28 years.

Any fan who tries to argue we do it as well as Philly or even better than Philly is a homer, plain and simple. No rational person can look at the results and think, "Gee, Jerry does it better..........."

But the goal shouldn't be just to compete with the Eagles but to build a roster who can start winning Super Bowls for this franchise again. The main thing competing with Eagles has done is prove that the gap isn't as big within the division as some Cowboys fans make it out to be every time the Eagles make big moves in free agency.
