And you are an expert scout to say this from a 16 second video.
I doubt you were there to see all the work out videos.

Most likely no one is going to look super fast running that type of cone drills. They are not so far apart where you need to get up to full speed.
What looked good was how he made his cuts around the cones to change direction. Yes, possibly could have been a little quicker. But he is still rehabbing.
Dont have to be an expert scout, when you release things publicly then everyone can criticize

He was looking terrific in camp last summer. Clearly the best of anyone from last years draft class. I’m not going to get my hopes up too high with him coming off an ACL. It could take until 2025 for him to return to form if he ever does. He could end up being one of those players who’s always hurt. I’m going to stay cautious.
I wonder if he will show progress faster due to his youth. Has anyone ever tracked age/ACL injuries based on performance after injury? I’d be curious to see if there is any correlation. Anyways, I agree with you.

Oh, the old eye test theory. OK.
I am not taking anything good or bad from that video.

I actually think he and several others, like Mazi and his shoulder surgery. Will start TC on PUP. It is just what this team does.
They say they will be ready by TC. Only to tell us they will be on PUP, or will start out doing only sideline work with he trainers. As a precaution for the reasoning.

And at times that may be ok. Like one of my pet peeves with Garrett. Every injury was ... day to day ... the players head could be hanging to his butt ... oh he is day to day, we will see how it goes.

i had this injury these guys are disrespectful and nuts...you guys understand that you need to literally learn how to walk again first? he is taking everything slowly, getting all of his steps and rythym back, he will speed it up when the time is right and the leg isn't as sore...these things take 8 months to get firing again...my nerves did not fire again properly until after 2-3 years, even though I fully returned to sport. If anything I am more athletic, faster and stronger in other parts of my body now due to this rehab - and I am 5 years removed from my ACL repair. My knee does not feel the same but it has zero affect on my physical performance, I am performing better.

in TC that is his opportunity to turn it up a notch, then in contact drills - he will not be the same likely until week 9 of the season where he will tell the media he is starting to feel like himself. This goes with Diggs as well.
yeah but we also know the dark side of this injury and guys on this team not being the same player they once were, them being put out there too early, or them needing an extra year to fully gain confidence in that area. I'm thinking Diggs won't be that great this year, he'll be back to full confidence in 2025

After watching the video and reading the comments here’s my take.

1. He does look a bit slow, however judging by the video I don’t think they were working on a “timed” run there. It looks like more of a repetition of movement.

2. If my hunch is correct they’re doing this to regain confidence in “planting” gradually.

3. The good news is he seems to be able to plant well and pivot. So it’s not some doom and gloom.

4. Im curious to see what his workload will look like leading up to camp and during camp. Will be a full participant or not. That will tell us a lot about where he is.

He tore the ACL August 19th. Less than 8 months ago. It's still true for most players it takes a full year, or longer, to recover.

I'd not be too concerned about his lack of apparent speed, agility, etc. at this point.

Let's check back in July or such and we may have a different view....

Being injured during camp his rookie year and having to spend months rehabbing will likely stunt his development some. How he recovers will depend on him. Some players come back as good as new after an ACL and some don’t. Some players are never the same. Micheal Irvin tore his ACL during his second season and went on to have a HOF career.

I'd love to get him between 35 and 56. His upside is insane.
Dallas doesn't have time to wait for upside. Need players ready to go, as much as possible.

Did Dallas learn nothing from Jaylon, LVE, Gregory and others?

Please, don't draft players with known problems, be that mental or physical....

Overshown to Overslow after the injury. Hopefully he can get back to near pre-injury form

I was 8 when 88 blew his knee out so I don’t remember what he looked like immediately after it. But my hope is that O has youth and medical advancement on his side and that will translate into having an impact this year.

Wilson is absolutely ready to go. He is healthy. He had a clean 2023 and had an absolutely incredible year. He can do things that nobody else in this draft can do like run skill players down and catch them 40 to 50 yards downfield.

It took Irvin 2 years. He only put up just over 400 yards the season after his ACL. I thought he was going to end up like Mike Sherrard a WR the Cowboys took with their first pick in 86. He looked very promising his rookie year but broke his leg in year two and was never the same. After a lackluster 3rd season, Irvin came on strong in 1991 and had a 1500 yard season.

Well at least he is the only question mark on D that is coming off of a major injury

What is it that concerns you about Wilson? He has been dominating on the field and at the combine.

yeah those same heat seeking missiles go flying up the field while the opposing teams running back is 12 yards past them the other way
I've read that he was a highly touted Safety coming out of high school, which was probably more fitting for his weight. Sounds like he might've been more suited for safety than LB against the run. He weighs about 220.
