I was honestly very happy with the approach last year...then by the time we got to the SF game I realized the holes

2007 offseason. Leonard Davis, Ken Hamlin, Brad Johnson. Drafted Anthony Spencer and Nick Folk. Really shored up a lot of holes.

What example would you suggest we follow?

And if think we’re only an Elite QB away then why hasn't our ownership seen that and tried to pursue or draft one?

I’m not sure why you are so sold on what this ownership is doing? Please explain.
Cmon DieHard. How long have we been having these discussions? hell, I suppose for over 20 years now? I can not answer why our FO does what they do. They dont talk with me regularly.Ive been pretty consistent on my thoughts. Teams rosters are, for the most part, roughly the same. They all fit nicely within the bell shaped curve. I dont want to bore you with more..... you have heard all of this before.

If it is all about the QB then why hasn’t our ownership seen we don’t have a great enough QB for deeper runs and success in the playoffs?

The Chiefs had a playoff contender with Smith but they still used a 1st round pick on a QB.

Perhaps the greatest mismanagement from our leadership is not pursuing another QB and accepting ours was good enough.

That also worked for the Rams a couple years ago. And the Bucs too. Might still work for the Jets. Just pursuing a better QB.

There’s several models out there to follow other than ours this era.
teams come and go. SOMEONE is going to win the SB. The years a Tom Brady or Mahomes doesnt do it, some little flea will step up and find a way. The rams won 3 straight playoff games by 3 points. Everyone of those games they could have lost........ but good for them. They got it done, and then disappeared as quickly as they appeared.

The bucs landed Tom brady at the end of his career..... and they made the playoffs for the 1st time in over a decade, won the SB, and immediately sucked again. Boy, those are some great examples to follow. They clearly know how to get it done! Great models for us for sure. Ill call jerry and let him know how it works after dinner.

This is the weakest, most pathetic offseason I can remember.

They haven't done a single thing that makes you look forward to next year. Not one.

Definitely considering 3 12 win seasons in a row, you'd think they would actually care enough to try to get over that hump. This offseason solidifies what we already knew about how absolutely pathetic Jerry and his kid are. It's sad that there's no hope at all with them in charge.

They’ve accomplished more in the playoffs than we have this century, lol. Would I trade rosters, GM and HC with the lions right now? Yes I would. In a heartbeat.

Reid you asked for examples of teams that have been built well and have won multiple playoff games in a season. I just listed one (which took some research I might add) but there are others. You don't have to agree but you can’t say “no one wins multiple playoff games in a season without an elite QB”.

Here is what you said: NFL Teams winning multiple playoff games these days are built with a combination of good drafts, smart but selective free agent signings, and flexible long term cap management.

You and me are clearly not talking the same language. You said teams winning multiple playoff games and LONG TERM cap management. So i assumed we were not talking about a team that had a decent season once out of 40 years.I assumed we were talking about teams that have the key to success mapped out. You are right in that I asked for TEAMS, since you said teams. You gave me one example, that is a pathetic example IMO. I am still waiting for TEAMS.

Here's an attempt at a concise response:

Again, the FO isn't trash, but they're actions show that they are not budging from their team building philosophy, and as such are doomed to the status quo of 12 win seasons and early playoff exits as a ceiling.

The Eagles went to the super bowl with a contrasting philosophy, and they did it without the vast majority of their super bowl winning roster from just 5 years prior.

The Chiefs are a bad comparison for the rest of the league because of Mahomes.

You're right in a sense-- it is my problem that I'm not content with the Cowboys' results. And if you are, that's entirely your business, too.
You know what that's a very valid and mature response I can live with that we can agree to disagree on on most of this but you have a right to feel how you wanna feel...

You’re such a smartarse when presented when other teams have made moves and had more success but yet you have no solutions.

Which leads me to question how you can be so supportive of what our leadership is doing basically buying in to our owners hype and just needing some luck.

Do you think Cowboys model this era is a good one to follow?

This could be the best one if they trade Parsons to Atlanta for two 1st rounders.

Any team this era which has eventually found a formula to go deeper in playoffs with more success , however brief, would be a good model to follow.

Otherwise we become content following our leaderships hype buying in we’re just a little luck away.

And if your bigger argument is all teams are about the same except for QB’s then why hasn’t our leadership attempted to upgrade.

Still haven’t explained how you can continue to support the model of our leadership

There is no MODEL. There are the couple of teams that have ELITE, generational QBs. Those teams are in the hunt for a SB EVERY YEAR. Then there is everyone else. Those teams go up and down year to year.... they have no great ""Model." If they did, everyone, including themselves would follow it each year. If the Rams model is so good, why did they fall off the map as soon as they won the SB? If the Bucs model is so good, why did they immediately suck again?

Supportive? I dont know, I just dont see a need to armchair QB from home. None of us are in the Star in on discussions. None of us know what the plan is. BUt for all of the Cowboys Zone GMs that have the ""Model," all figured out, they should go get a new job in the NFL.

Sensitive? Why is I am sensitive because I dont agree with all the experts on this forum on how to do it?

My larger point is no matter what they do, they get called morons. Some want dak to stay, spme want Dak to go. Right now, the Cowboys have put themselves in position to do BOTH of those things next year.... and yet here we are calling them idiots for doing what many on here want. Stop signing old vets.... Bye Bye Tyron.... you stupid idiots
Let Zeke go last year.... you morons!

Get rid of Gallup.....I cant believe they didnt replace him with Diggs.... what clowns.

Just like some like to be outraged when they wake up each day, some come here to complain about Jerry having a soda instead of water..

So if Rodgers pass was 3 more inches to the sidelines, we beat GB in 2016, and pow... just like that, our model is pretty good??? lol

How often do you "Upgrade," the QB? every year? Every 4 years? Every 8 years?

IM a Cowboys fan. Im going to Cowboys games every year. Im watching Cowboys games every year. The outcome is going to be the outcome. Me sitting around complaining about that draft pick, that signing, that vacation, that illegitimate child, that DUI, that hiring or that firing isnt going to change a damn thing. So I chose to not do it. It is one thing to state an opinion and say how you would do it. Its another to sit and insult people that none of us know what is happening behind the scenes.

People bash Jerry for not signing Dak sooner. Did you ever think it was Dak that has said nope, dojt want a deal this year. Ill wait another year as the market goes up 15% every season.... so it is smart on Dak's part to not sign early. But do we know what is up? Nope, but we have no shortage of keyboard warriors that think they know

You truly don’t grasp the concept of a fan forum.

And you’re telling me you never second guess or play Monday morning QB? Surely you’re not that big of a Homer.

We are all Couch QB’s and GM’s etc..

If you don’t have anything to add but go team. That’s fine. But why call out those who do have opinions?

I still don’t understand why fans with nothing to complain or critique about would subject themselves to the rhetoric on a fan forum.

I’m glad you’re so pleased and content with the level of success this era and have nothing to critique or things you’d do different .

But I’ve got news for you if you haven’t already noticed, most don’t.

Perhaps you’re just here to tote the line and support for our ownership which makes you feel you’re a bigger fan . And you wonder why are labeled a Homer and Jethro sympathizer.
