Dak is a good QB. It isn’t a question. His issue is that he has a demonstrated incapability of playing well in big games. That is also not a question. Guy is 30 so that is not going to change. You can’t pay that guy $50-60 million knowing he will blow up in a big game. They absolutely can not extend him.
Im answering the 'root of the contract mess'. This seasons situation is a direct result of the GB game (not specifically Dak or his part in the defeat). Im sure the strategy and expectation for 2023 was to improve and get to the Championship game.....setting up an ALL-IN based around the early 'cheap' years of Dak's extension. The capitulation vrs the Packers brought up the realization that we arent close, and brings into question whether building around a $55m+ (Cap) QB, that may well be part of the play-off issue is the best way to rebuild.

Get ready. He will be resigned. Probably during the 2nd phase of FA. I hope Lamb does not hold out. We will need to have some money to sign FA to fill spots we didn’t get to in the draft. Paying Dak 60+ million this year on the cap will kill chances to sign FA and other players. JJ believes in Dak even if some of us don’t. So sign him and free up money. Guessing Daks agent and Dak want one more payday. If so then give JJ terms for a long term maybe 5 year deal and take that big signing bonus and low cap hit for the first couple of years. Use the savings and cap increase to sign Lamb and Parsons. There is ways Dak can work with JJ to help the team and still get paid. It’s about the guaranteed money so let’s get his guaranteed money paid so if Dak can’t get it done in a few years then we can move on. Lance won’t be the answer. And JJ is not moving on from Dak. Don’t matter what we think.

He meant league MVP because he mentioned Dak coming in second last season. Dak was second in the league MVP voting.
The poster knows what they are talking about, their just pointing out people like you that love crowning dak’s 2nd in mvp vote like he did something meaningful.

The root of the contract mess is based on the GB play-off (and struggles vrs good teams, eg 49ers). Im convinced if we beat the Packers and Lions (or even put up a show) this wouldnt even be a thread, we'd of brought the team back, restructured/extended Dak. However, the rude awakening is that whilst Dak's a good QB, is he able to warrant the increased CAP......the whole fact that no decision has been made is testament that there are concerns.

Next stop the Hall of Fame
I didn't know you get in the hall of fame by choking against good teams year after year after year. As in the big 3.

He had to make sure he stole his money in the least amount of time while not being able to trade him for pennies. If he had a longer contract he would of been traded right after that horrific last playoff game.
The horrific game that he set a new Cowboy playoff yardage record. He is just terrible.

Guys like you deserve to not have a good qb and have a record like the Giants.

It’s silly for anyone to come on here telling someone a poster knows what they’re talking about, especially when they say Murray came in second for offensive MVP and that Dak did the same thing last season. The poster got it wrong. If you’re just looking to start up another Dak argument go find someone else.

Skip is a joke.
There are many jokesters posing as enlightened sports journalists. Listening to James Jones and Lesean Mccoy is painful and a disgrace to journalism in any form.

However, just like Skip I can't argue with them when they stumble upon the truth.

At least the Giants have been relevant this Century. 3 SB appearances and 2 Lombardis.

Maybe the Giants weren't the best example, lol
The Giants flat out suck. I'm sure that Giants fans really enjoy taking it up the backside.

Appears that’s your problem. Glad you recognized it.
The poster did not say murray was 2nd in mvp voting. They simply stated murray won nfc offensive player of the year, while everyone touts dak for 2nd in mvp voting. You then go on to say rodgers won the mvp that year. Did the poster say murray was the mvp? I don’t think so buddy, try again.

You’re really becoming annoying. You better go back and read his post again. He said Murray won offensive MVP in 2014 and the official award was offensive player of the year. He said Dak came in second last season, which is false! Dak came in second for league MVP. Try letting the poster answer for themselves.
Demarco Murray actually won the offensive mvp and nobody cared. Dak finishes second and it’s an iconic moment for Dakies. Go figure.
