There is also interest Tyrone Tracy Jr. Purdue who could also double as a WR. He ran a 4.48 second 40 yard dash and had a 6.81 second time in the three cone drill.

I like Brooks. But I’m a little surprised more hasn’t been said about his knee injury which happened the second week of November last year. He tore his ACL and while I’m confident he will recover I find it hard to believe he’s even 90% by training camp.

The Cowboys need a RB who’s ready on Day one. Recovering from an ACL tear usually takes at least nine months. As of now, his rehab has been 5 months. Makes me a little hesitant on Brooks.
BH, Jonathon Brooks is worth the investment and the wait. Plus, he's got extremely low wear-n-tear on his tires. He's like a fairly new Ferrari with an unexpected broken axle. You properly fix it and get yourself a fairly new top sports car.

Problem is we need a RB1. Tracy is raw and fits better as a RB2/3 early on

It’s almost like the Cowboys want a team to trade up in front of them to draft Brooks. Reminds me of Sam Williams.

So 50% chance we take another injured guy in the 2nd and 50% chance someone trades up to pick 55 to take him. The Cowboy way...

Great. We know 100% they will draft a 1 legged RB! And in year 3 of his rookie deal as he finally starts rounding into some semblance of what he used to do they'll extend him then immediately regret it the following year.

They sent the RB scout to his pro day and he was a 30 visit so don't be surprised if they don't draft one on day one or two if he's the pick.

He only played one year with 113 attempts so you're right about that
Brooks had 238 attempts over twice as many
Benson had 316
and Wright had had the most with 368

It feels like most scouts consider Brooks and Trey Benson to be the RB1a and RB1b in this class.

After them, there is a drop off. There’s a few talented guys, but Brooks and Benson are the guys in this class that can immediately change a backfield.

If Dallas passes on them in the second round, there could be a run on RBs before their third round selection.
What if the

yes, only thing is I think they may like Peyton Wilson better. He has a very long history of injury, which may be more appealing than just one ACL.
I don't believe Wilson will be there in the 2nd round.

That’s fine. His injury shouldn’t effect his production or anything next season.
Well, they've made it clear they are managing toward 2025 & beyond. So, it wouldn't be as egregious to take an injured player who likely won't be 100% until then.

You are forgetting about Deuce Vaughn my friend

The Dallas Cowboys need to pick a RB in this upcoming draft and an NFL insider has a name
By Tony Catalina Apr 22, 2024

ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter released “NFL draft week intel” on Monday morning, following what he said was from days of phone calls. Among all of the notes Schefter had spread throughout the league, one note in particular should be of interest to Cowboys Nation.

In his article, Schefter speaks about the Cowboys and their worst-kept secret interest in Texas Longhorns’ RB Jonathon Brooks

2nd round is usually where we waste a pick on someone with issues.

So yeah, this is par for the course.
Figures you would say that...Brooks would not be a waste like you and the guys that gave you likes think. Best back in the draft, even coming of an injury, but some can't help themselves....have to be miserable and negative 24/7.

Given the now (perceived?) infamous history of the FO's 2nd round picks - If the Cowboys do make Brooks their selection Friday night, I feel the moderators should put up a poll so CZers can vote whether it is a good or bad choice.
Given the history of knee ligament injuries, it's hard to believe that Brooks' late season ACL tear will not hinder him from being full strength when training camp rolls around.
Then again...maybe his recovery will parallel that of that (very) rare bird a dozen years ago...Adrian Peterson.

It fits with previous second-round pics, I would love to see someone scoop hum up before they pick. I heard he wouldn't be able to take the field till very late in the season
