Trey Lance, at my best heading into QB2 battle

I live in Norcal, I know all about the niners. There was not only 1 single reason why he was traded, but the number 1 reason is because he wasnt good.
Is there any proof of this based on actual reasons except someone's speculative opinion, i.e., he was traded, therefore he must not be good? Because there are a number of reasons that could be given for why he was traded. The only certain one is that the 49ers made a judgement call and thought they had found their starting QB in Purdy.

So I guess players cannot learn and get better? All players entering the NFL already know everything they could ever learn, is that it? smh
sure..... there are Jim Plunkets out there. BUT, go all the way back to sb 41 colts vs bears. Find me the SB winning QB that has anywhere near a comparable trajectory as Lance.

Foles was only in the SB because Wentz, who would have won the MVP that year had he not gotten injured, gave the Eagles (and Foles) the number 1 seed.

I will admit, I am curious about Lance. The guy has not played much..... but the only way Lance gets any meaningful playing time this year is if Dak gets hurt. And the only way Lance get signed after this year is if he gets meaningful playing time and he does very well.

Even then, Can the Cowboys tag a guy that they declined a 5th year option on? Im not sure, but I would doubt it. If that is the case, Lance will be an unrestricted FA after this season.

No question but what Lance was raw in San Fran, but I think he'll get far more patience and opportunities to develop w/the Cowboys. At least, he sounds like he's making inroads to improve his game here. How much he's able to improve will mean a great deal for his future with the Cowboys. The fact that Dak sees fit to give him his time and help improve himself will help his game. How much so, remains to be seen. I wish him success.
Raw in SF.
90% off sale to Dallas.
Expired free agent.

Purdy absolutely had beaten Lance out, and it wasnt even close. Lance was horrible. I watched his last preseason game and holy crap ws he bad. It was immediately after that game that the niners started looking to trade him.

This is not subjective, this is facts. Not only that, had Lance shown almost anything, dont you think one of the teams that is in QB hell wouldnt have stepped up and gave more than Dallas to let Lance take over and see what he had? It is pretty rare for a qb drafted as high as he was to basically be given away so soon.

I honestly dont remember that, and right now do not understand the significance of March 13.
It's significant in the fact that you and 90ish others thought a deal would be done with Dak by that date.

Yet, here we are. Almost 3 months later with no deal done and Dak changing his own tune going from "I'm confident a deal gets done" to "I can only control what I can control".

The deal is not happening.

More importantly they had already signed Darnold to a $4.5M contract. Why would they have done that if he had actually beat out Jimmy G? They new he was trash before they signed Darnold otherwise why would they have signed him?

No one believes the Niners signed Darnold to a $4.5M contract to be their emergency QB.

"Lance sucks after 4 career games."

"I believe Dak can win a Super Bowl despite him failing for 8 years now and looking bad against basically every good team the Cowboys play not named the Eagles"

The same people believe both of those statements.

IM not trying to argue with you. I said I dont remember why I said a deal woul dbe done by March whatever. That is stupid as that date means nothing.

In the end, what all of us think means noting. I think he is gonna get a deal.

Keep in mind, I can promise you there has been no bigger critic of Dak than I have been. Im also just not ridiculous with my criticism.

Dak will play out his contract now and hopefully Lance can take over then

Well since you know about my posts... please find one post from me EVER, that has stated the Cowboys were winning a SB or Dak is taking us to a SB. I have NEVER said such a thing.

The thread I started a week ago about the upcoming season stated all the reasons I will always enjoy every season. But nowhere did I ever say we were going to a title game or a super bowl. To do so would be ignorant.

Also, to say qb X hasnt done it in 8 years so therfor he wont ever do it is also ignorant.... that was a statement from Matt Stafford.

Actually, it's not ignorant.

There has NEVER... I repeat NEVER been a QB, 8 years in, over 30, win their first Super Bowl with the team that drafted them.

Trey talks about QB2 battle, and how he has learned over the past year. And how things are different between Dallas and SF.

"Lance has grown close with Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and other players on the team as he gets settled into Dallas and settled into a shot at rewriting what his underperforming career has been to this point. With just two months sitting between now and Lance taking the field at training camp to begin that rewrite, he feels he's at the best he's been in his NFL career."

Sounds like Dak is taking him under his wings. This is what I am looking forward to the most in TC and the PS games.
I wonder how many of our players on the team would say they are not playing at their best heading into a new season?
