Yea, I'm not upset about it. Even from what McCarthy said, he's been doing his own work separate from the team. I don't think what they are going to be asking him to do in this defense is going to be too hard to learn. And just because he hasn't been at OTAs doesn't mean he isn't learning it.

Mine's more the mandatory stuff. If he misses that, then there's something to it, but missing OTAs really is a choice for each player and it doesn't mean they aren't working on their craft and getting better. Some players would rather do specific training that they think will make them better rather than the rather wimpy stuff OTAs consists of now. It isn't like there is hardcore conditioning work or anything to prepare them for the season. It's mainly just implementation and bonding. That's important, but it doesn't mean that all players feel that it is important.

You honestly believe any of the star players are going to take a discount and play for less money? They all are trying to get highest paid, so your argument against Dak holds no water. Dak has always had it. Micah is proving he does not.
But like I said there are players all around the league that do this they're all veterans have not come to or should not even be expected to and nothing should be read into them not showing up for voluntary workouts are practices of any kind.

As I said, I'm not concerned about voluntary OTAs. When they start skipping mandatory stuff is when there should be a concern. If they don't show up when it is mandatory, then there is some kind of issue, whether it's a contract holdout or whatever. Not showing up for OTAs could be contract posturing, but since it is voluntary, it's not going to be seen by the team as anything other than aggravating at worst. To some extent, I think the front office sees it as a relief, less opportunity for a star player to get himself hurt. It's kind of like the decision to not play certain players in the preseason. You know what those players can do so the risk is greater than the reward. The only concern with Parsons could be the defense learning a new scheme, but really I think that is mitigated.
Rarely do players skip camp unless there is a reason for it. I can't see the choice of a player to do that as a good thing. Can he still be ready to go by Game 1 if he skips camp? Most likely, although it seems that a lot of the time players are more prone to injuries like pulled hamstrings when they miss the day-to-day of camp, but they can also get injured in camp, so maybe that's a wash.
If Micah were actually serious about committing to the Cowboys and being the best player he can be as well as be a great leader, he would have went to the OTA's for one simple and vital reason. New DC and new defensive system. He chose not to go which shows us exactly why he's not worth the money he's going to demand.
