Sturm: Cowboys next head coaching candidates

Cowboys need a disciplinarian. But the Cowboys also need someone that can install a modern offense.

Tough choice betweeen Belichek, Vrabel vs Ben Johnson, Slowik

Your last two choices I’ve mentioned before, no to the NE retreads

If you don't think it's going to be Belichick, you aren't paying attention.

Jerry is lazy.

Jerry craves attention.

One sham interview and then Belichick is named Head Coach, probably a day before the Super Bowl.

Just like some (many) of you didn't want to face the realization they were re-signing Dak, just make peace with it now,

What a waste of time talking about the next head coach here.

Jerry could do it to these people for another 50 years and they'd still fall for it.

If we concede Jerry will not hire an unproven up and coming new age modern offense guy then in that scenario if we are going to get a known commodity then give me Belichick.

I’d rather a Ben Johnson, Bobby Slowik type but that would be too forward thinking for Jerry

My money is on Belichick. One last stab at relevance for both ownership and head coach.
And nothing would be bigger than Bellichek resurrecting himself and the Cowboys at the same time.

Exactly. There's no real point looking into this any further. He will talk to Al Harris in a sham interview and then sign Belichick after one night out.

Aaron Glenn should be on there.........Dan Campbell, Shawn Peyton and Parcell are all mentors
He got burnt by Santana Moss In that nightmare game where they scored two bombs in like a minute And we still could a won, but Crayton once again

Flores is a LOT like Belichick, and that's a good thing. A throwback, old-school hardass who can cook up some absolutely confounding defensive schemes.

With that being said, the Cowboys are the last time that he would go to. He lost his HC job in Miami, during a stint that was otherwise going well, in a political fight with the owner. Flores told him that Tua would never win a Super Bowl, Ross told Flores that Tua was The Guy and to make things work. Flores pulled the "him or me" card and got forced out.

Jerry plays favorites just like that, and there's no way Flores would deal with that again.
not that i'd want it to even be a situation to deal with, but i think he would. he lost a hc job and had to go back through the trenches as an assistant. think he might be a bit more diplomatic next time around.

I don't like the Ben Johnson stuff at all. Reminds me of belicheck coaches leaving from under him. That's Dan Campbell's kitchen
i'm not even particularly sold on campbell (personally) they are just extremely loaded.

Realistically I'd maybe throw that Tampa Bay Bucs OC name in the real mix

He's been masterful working to fix Mayfield as well as scheming the offense without healthy WRs.

Even stout chiefs defense had issues dealing with WR injury ravaged Bucs offense .

Campbell brought in the coaches that has a huge difference in the Lions emergence as the NFC top team .

And yet Flores defense has remained suspect during the vikes struggles and losses.

yeah maybe. i'm saying that i don't have particular faith in any of them. they just happen to be very talented. coaches tend to look better with an abundance of great players.

Considering the Mingo trade, I would say it will be Belichick or Deion Sanders. Try to think like Jerry and you will have the right answer. Don't expect anyone who would be a refreshing change. It will be someone that grabs headlines.

Totally with ya.
Johnson is doing great and probably is a good coach on his own merit. But it helps to be 2 deep at RB, excellent 3 receivers and a nasty tight end...
And throw in the best offensive line in football.

Again, I'm not saying the man can't coach.
But you hafta consider his environment as well.
