Positives to take away from this season? If any

There are some positives. But we know how this thread will turn out. :banghead:

Some constructive criticism may be needed though a long with the positives.

Agree about Overshown.
Defense had it's up and down moments, but lately the aggressive style looks better, and with all the injuries to half the starters.

J. Lewis has been a bright spot.
The play of some of the back up OL. Even if they do not turn into starters next season, we will have some depth. But I feel still need a new OL coach.

Schoonmaker getting more playing time when Ferguson was out, and did not look horrible as some will have others believe.Want to see how he develops more in 2025.

Any clue on what Zim meant about doing it his way in the beginning, that an indictment on player availability or Jerry

Uncle Rico running the ball for 1k, showing some ability to be a #2/spot starter. Can't complain after the failed running back by committee start.
Interior line showing promise. Beebe, Hoffman, Bass. Not the great wall or anything, but showing signs we may have some decent to good starters.
Schoonmaker at least showing some life when he was the #1 TE for a small stretch.

Defense improving as the year went on. I don't put too much stock into last week as the offense couldn't sustain anything and Booth was left on islands.
Then again, after their start, there was only up as it was near rock bottom.

Signs of life at linebacker. Was looking good till Overshown tore everything and may miss all of next year.

Truth about certain players revealed, and we know they should play ok next season.

Overshown of course but sucks he’s hurt for awhile.

Mazi. Yes Mazi, but he’s actually played a lot this year.

The rookies, BeBe, Liufau, and Kneeland all look like players.

Schoon. Thought he should have kept feeding him after Fergs got hurt. He was looking really good.

Lamb. Just a stud.

Bland. Guy is just quiet and professional.

Positives:
  • Season’s almost over.
  • Players that emerged: Demarvion Overshown, Rico Dowdle, Cooper Beebe, Osa Odighizhua (he’s been good in the past but this year was his best), Marist Liafau towards season’s end.
  • Brandon Aubrey remains the best K in the NFL.
  • More Cowboys fans getting fed up with the never ending Jones circus.
Negatives:
  • The worst off-season in Cowboys history. This season was torpedoed by the Jones boys‘ before we even started training camp. Their refusal to make decisions on key contracts early ruined their ability to create cap space and make the moves they needed to improve the roster. And they continue to lie about it.
  • The injuries. The Overshown injury was heart breaking.
  • Not enough weapons on offense and the insane decision to start Zeke at the beginning of the year. It killed the running game early in the season along with having two rookie OL who needed time to develop.
  • No end in sight to the Jones stupidity, incompetence and arrogance.

If resigned he'd surely be the #1 going into the season, don't you think? That's how we do things around here

add a negative what about Ferguson, is TE a low key need this off season?

Really hard for me to get excited about Overshown knowing the extent of his injuries. It was great to see how awesome he could be if his body could hold up, but I'm afraid that may not be possible.

Just a couple of positives. We found about who to keep and who to get rid of.

Higher draft pick than normal. Will make the draft even more interesting.

The list of negatives is much much longer.
