The defense is better off without Micah. Because he “can’t stop the run” or something like that.
Micah is undoubtedly one of the leagues premier pressure players, but some context is needed regarding last season.
Williams was lost to a torn ACL before the season. Armstrong & Fowler left to Washington in free agency with Fowler notching 10.5 sacks. Lawrence played in only 4 games. Kneeland missed 6 games.
While it can't be expected for his presence to be replaced singularly, they basically had little else on the edge as a whole, in addition to suffering injuries in the secondary. Golston was second on the team with 5.5 sacks. Overshown, who was showing some pressure chops before also being lost to injury, finished 3rd with 5 sacks, and Osa finished 4th with 4.5 at 3T.
